I have a Jailbroken iPod Touch 3.0 and i want to know if updating to IOS 4 will erase all my data

Updating to the IOS 4 update will not erase the data that can be found in your iTunes (e.g. Music, Movies, Photos, Apps...).

However, it will get rid of your Jailbreak data, and you will have to re-jailbreak your device.

Fortunately, there is a jailbreak program (redsn0w 0.9.5b5) that jailbreaks iPod Touch's that are 4.0.
I recommend jailbreaking your 4.0 iPod Touch, because only the newer 3G iPod Touch's have the Home Screen and Multitasking features. Jailbkreaking with redsn0w 0.9.5b5 can put those features on any version of iPod Touch.

Sadly, if you iPod Touch is an MC Model, jailbreaking your device might screw it up big time.
To check what model your iPod Touch is, on your iPod go to Settings/General/About.

What phone should I get? The HTC Thunderbolt or the Apple iPhone 4?

I'm able to upgrade for a new phone and I don't know what to get. I've narrowed it down between these two...if you can help me that would be great! Please give reasons on why you think I should pick either phone! :)

Should i jailbreak my iphone 4?

Ive had my iphone 4 since september 2010.

Its brilliant but im a bit bored with it.

All i worried about is ive spend a lot of money on a lot of apps and i dont want to lose my contacts/messages/photos ect , also the apps i have installed and have game data on.

So if i jailbreak my iphone how would i put my contacts back and photos or would i have to put them in manually ?

also does it make it any faster as the iphone 4 is slow on ios 5?.

Also is the siri safe to use once jail broken ??

You can create a backup of your files in iTunes before jailbreaking.
If you create a backup in iTunes you can easily go back to your backup.
Jailbreaking doesn't make your iPhone 4 faster though.
