Iphone 5 vs Galaxy S4 for a teen?

I'm 17, and due for a new phone. Most of my friends at school have the iPhone 5 and they look amazing, but I read stuff saying that the S4 is so much better. But the iPhone 5 has facetime, and it can act as my ipod, so I'm split. The main things I want from a phone are:
1. Something that will last at least 2 years. My HTC I've had this time started dying after a year and a half.
2. Good battery life
3. Good cameras, front and back.
4. Good, free apps
5. A phone that I can easily connect my itunes, as my ipod's also died now.
5. Good memory, so can download loads of apps, and store a lot of photos and music.
6. A contract no more than £30 per month. Cheaper is preferable.
7. A fast phone that doesn't take ages to load all the time.
Based on these points, which phone is best for me?

Just because they are sold in the same shops they are not in the same league.

1) Everyone recommends the IP5 and NEVER mentions the price. iPhone prices / tariffs on any all networks defy logic and gravity

THREE as "3" was just too short***
The Samsung Galaxy S II (2)was released in MAY 2011 & has 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor with an 8Mp camera.

18 months later November 2012 Apple puts a 12Ghz Dual Core processor & 8Mp camera in a phone and call it the IP5

4) iPhones play catch up what is on an iPhone came out months before on other makes. Eg the iPhone4 was the FIRST iPhone to have a camera flash yeah 2010 .

A total of 9 things are missing as ALL IPHONES do NOT have BLUETOOTH MEDIA TRANSFER! so NO sharing SGS II 9 MORE, SGS III 9 MORE S IV 9 MORE,

The IP5S released anytime within the next 3 to 4 months it being an S will be a tweak so still Dual Core IMO the other IP5S will NOT surpass the BB Z10 (Which is the best Dual Core phone in this the Samsung Galaxy)
Windows 8 phones have 1.5GHz processor as 'standard'

iPhone 4 storage problems?

Okay so I've had my iphone since Dec 31, 2011. No problems.

(Btw: I have the 8 GB)

A few months ago, i want to say over the summer, I did the software update to iOS5 i believe (i think so, because the software update i havent done yet is iOS 6).

Now a few weeks ago my phone said I have NO bytes available on my phone so i deleted a few apps and a bunch of my pictures and it still said that. Today I sent all my pictures to my email and deleted them all off my phone and I only have two apps on it - facebook and instagram.

I even took my email off my phone and deleted a bunch of my message threads and notes and it STILL says I have 0 Bytes available?

It says 6.4 GB used but the only things shown as taking up storage are:
Facebook - 37.8 MB
Instagram - 23.7 MB

No music, no video, not anything.

Also every time I go to my camera it won't let me take any pictures and comes up with that annoying message that says

"Cannot Take Photo
There is not enough available storage to take a photo. You can manage your storage in Settings"


This phone is really pissing me off and I just don't know what to do anymore!

Anyone have any idea whats going on or what I could do? PLEASE share!
I did what Diana B said - now it says I have 16.8 MB available. I can take photos but I can't download any apps yet :(

If you look at the memory bar, it should tell you what category of storage is taking up that room. If it's "other" it may be that your safari app is taking up that room. You need to clear its cookies, cache, whatever. Just check out Safari in the settings menu.

If it's music and/or video, it may be that manual management of music and video isn't selected, and iTunes is reserving that space for all the music and video on your computer to go into your iPod.

The good: The HTC ThunderBolt offers incredibly fast 4G data speeds. The Android 2.2 smartphone also supports simultaneous voice and data over 3G and boasts a large 4.3-inch touch screen, ample storage, and an excellent camera.

The bad: Battery life takes a big hit when using 4G. There is no way to toggle between 3G and 4G.

The bottom line: The HTC ThunderBolt lights up with blazingly fast data speeds, but those who want 4G now should be aware that it takes a big toll on the smartphone's battery life.

Introduced at CES 2011, the HTC ThunderBolt is Verizon's first 4G LTE, and it's finally available for $249.99 with a two-year contract. The Android 2.2 smartphone might not offer the latest and greatest (e.g., dual-core processor), but with the carrier promising average download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps to 5Mbps, it's no surprise why many are clamoring to get their hands on this device. This includes us, which is why we were so excited to take the HTC ThunderBolt out for a test-drive. The lightning-fast smartphone delivers on many fronts, but it also comes at a cost.

Design
The HTC ThunderBolt is cut from the same cloth as the HTC Evo 4G and the HTC Desire HD, so if you've ever handled those devices, then you have a fairly good idea of what to expect from the ThunderBolt.

At 4.75 inches tall by 2.44 inches wide by 0.56 inch thick and 6.23 ounces, the ThunderBolt isn't for those who prefer dainty devices. The smartphone is large and actually slightly thicker and heavier than the Evo, but it's manageable and the tapered back and soft-touch finish make it comfortable to hold in the hand. As we've come to expect from HTC, the phone is solidly built and has a nice, premium feel to it.

On front, you've got the same 4.3-inch WVGA (800x480 pixels) touch screen as the Evo. There are higher-resolution displays out there, like those on the Motorola Atrix 4G or iPhone 4, but the ThunderBolt's screen still holds up, with clear and bright picture quality. Text was easy to read, and Web pages and video looked lovely on the large screen.

The touch screen is also responsive. Apps launched as we tapped them, and we were able to smoothly navigate through the home screens and menus. The display also features a proximity sensor and built-in accelerometer, which was quick to change screen orientation when we rotated the phone.

The front-facing camera sits right above the screen on the right; below the display are the home, menu, back, and search navigation buttons. Meanwhile, the 8-megapixel camera and flash are located on back, but we really wish there was a dedicated camera button on the phone. Instead, you'll have to use the touch screen to snap photos.

On the bright side, the ThunderBolt has a sturdy kickstand so you can prop the phone on a desk to watch videos, conduct speakerphone calls, and the like. There's a Micro-USB port on the left side, and a volume rocker occupies the right side. Finally, on top of the device, you'll find a power/lock button and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The HTC ThunderBolt comes packaged with an AC adapter, a USB cable, a preinstalled 32GB microSD card, and reference material.

4G features and performance
Before we get to the phone's more-basic features, we thought we'd address the HTC ThunderBolt's whole raison d'etre, and that's 4G support. As mentioned earlier, the ThunderBolt is the first smartphone to work on Verizon's LTE 4G network, which promises average download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps to 5Mbps.

Given the impressive results we got using Verizon's LG VL600 LTE USB modem, you'd think we'd be a little more prepared for what we experienced on the ThunderBolt, but we were still blown away by what we saw. It's fast. Real fast.

Running Ookla's Speedtest.net app on the handset yielded some erratic and suspicious results (upload speeds were registering up to 39.79Mbps), so we also measured speeds using the phone as a mobile hot spot and as a tethered modem. With the ThunderBolt connected to our MacBook Pro as a mobile hot spot here in New York, we were able to get average download speeds of 7.41Mbps and upload speeds of 6.56Mbps.

By comparison, the HTC Evo 4G from Sprint averaged 3.42Mbps down and 0.93Mpbs up; the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on T-Mobile averaged 4.17Mbps down and 1.68Mbps up; and the HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T averaged 1.75Mbps down and 0.31Mbps up.

We got even better results when we had the ThunderBolt tethered to our Lenovo T61 ThinkPad. We averaged download speeds of 15.58Mbps and upload speeds of 3.44Mbps.

I have the galaxy note 2 and I want to get a iphone bc of the music and apps and the well fashion part of it. I would have to cancel my contract which is 200 dollars plus 199 for the phone. I was thinking that maybe I can just get an ipod and wait for the iphone 6. What do you guys think I should do

Even if free you are considering $399.

You really should remind yourself why you bought the NOTE 2 (specifications) and ignore the quite brilliant and persuasive yet FACTUALLY AMBIGUOUS adverts that come out of the orchard

Im saving up and my parents are giving me money. 500$ in total. I don't know what ELECTRONICS to buy, i got an xbox 360, ipad, ipod, iphone, and a psp go, and a laptop.. I was thinking a 3ds since it looks fun. What should i get ?!?! please help

You should get the 3DS.

Because you can play music (even with the system close).

You can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you're the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And you can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

I have the iPhone 4 (not the 4 S) but I can't update it.?

The update pops up every time I plug my phone in and open iTunes. It says "A new iPhone software version (5.0.1) is available for the iPhone. Would you like to download and update now?" I have tried multiple times to download and update and every time at the last second it tells me I had a connection error. I have tried to just download and not update but the same thing happens. Please help this is frustrating me.

Before I attempt to help with this issue I would like to say I don't believe it's worth updating to iOS5, personally. iCloud, syncing over WIFI, notifications, and newsstand are the main new features. I don't use iCloud. Syncing over WIFI is a feature I appreciate, but haven't used yet. The update to notifications I could do without because I don't use my phone for anything that I need to be notified about. I was also going to mention how I hate the Newsstand App. I don't use it, can't delete it, and couldn't move it into a folder. UNTIL NOW. I was going to reference a link to a site hating on the app, but when I googled "ios 5 newsstand folder hate," I found http://thecodingmassacre.wordpress.com/2011/10/13/newsstand-folder-no-jailbreak-ios-5/. A way to get Newsstand out of my sight and into a folder. It doesn't even require a jailbreak. Awesome. Newsstand is one of the big cons of iOS5, but now I can get rid of it thanks to your question. I wonder how long our fates were intertwined...

Didn't mean to go all paragraph on you, now if you are still looking to update: There were many problems iOS users experienced updating to 5 during its first few days of release. Just google "problems updating to ios5" to find out what I mean. As it's been out for awhile now, I don't believe it is an issue with Apple's servers being overwhelmed like they were those first few days. I would suggest reinstalling iTunes first. Second, I would turn the phone off for 30 seconds, then try again. Third, I would try restoring my iPhone from back up(BE SURE IT'S CURRENT!) and then attempt updating to 5.

If you still can't get 5, take it as a sign you're not meant to upgrade at this time. If you insist on pursuing this goal, try updating from a different computer. SYNC TO YOUR ITUNES LIBRARY BEFORE SYNCING TO A NEW COMPUTER. A different iTunes will warn you that you will lose everything on your phone if you sync to a new computer's iTunes. If you have just synced your apps, photos, music, movies, contacts, and videos to YOUR computer's iTunes, it is safe to sync to a new iTunes to attempt to update. Once your phone updates(or not if it fails miserably on a different computer, too), you can sync it with your iTunes again, getting back everything like it was never lost.
