Answer
My favourites are as follows...

BBC News, The Guardian, Facebook, Twitter, The Train Line (look up train times, as good as national rail app but free.), Google Earth, Angry Birds (very addictive fun game), iBooks, Shazam (identify any song you hear, free.), Hipstamatic (amazing retro photos), TV Guide, RedLaser (barcode scanner that works on most branded products and gives you the cheapest price online. ), Speed Test (test your broadband speed), 0870 (find alternatives to premium rate numbers), Bump (transfer files from and too other iPhones), TuneIn Radio (listen to any internet radio station), PingChat (free chat to other iPhone users with PingChat), Ebuddy (talk to msn, yahoo, facebook chat, AIM contacts all at once)

Also I love the cracked app.

What are the best apps for the iphone?

Jamie

Games, stupid things, useful things, anything.

Answer
I usually just browse the free apps from the app store then just get rid of them when Im bored.

Heres what I find useful: (let me add Im a girl and also in UK so tastes might be different!)

*Bustracker (so I can check buses before I leave my flat)
*Sleep cycle- You put the phone under your pillow when you sleep and it monitors your sleep patterns- pretty cool!
*Facebook obviously!
*Betty Crocker Cookbook- actually amazing! enter any random ingredients and it will give you a recipe.. other cool features.
*Superama- take panoramic photos with your phone
*Sickipedia- cos usually when Im in bed trying to sleep I check out the jokes on here
*Virtuoso/Grand Piano Pro- fun piano app, good when bored
*Sonic the Hedgehog- yes!! haha 1990s retro game app!
*PS Mobile- photoshop- crop your pics etc.. pretty handy
*Moon Globe- play around with the moon, see craters, where spacecraft have landed etc..

I also have apps for my fav stores like Topshop, Urban Outfitters- I check new clothes in store.
Apps that change your face for fun- Fatbooth and AgeMe

Random ones like Ebay, MSN, 02, GoogleEarth and Flickr

*iFesty- (UK) - info on all music festivals
*FakeCaller- gets you out of awkward situations.

---Sorry this is a bit random.. just check the app store for free stuff!! :D

What is the name of the app with the vintage filters that everyone is using?

I know it's not Instagram, but it makes your iPhone photos look "retro" or "vintage" .. almost hipster.

Answer
I shoot on actual film. It's authentic and supports the industry that everyone else is contributing to the death of by shooting digital only to make it look like film. Using apps to make modern images look vintage is deceptive and careless.

. What are some good apps with filters & added text to use?

Emily

I want to make my photos look like tumblr pictures. PLEASE HELP, Thanks <3

Answer
i think Fotor well be your good choice

Filters: Fotor-PES (photo effect studio) is an app that has a powerful effect box, more than 100 kinds of filters: classic/B&W/LOMO/Vintage/Retro/Scratch/Old Pictrue etc, and especially you could make selection of your"favorites" filters

Add text: Fotor online e allows you to type in bold or italic, use various colors, rotate text and change the opacity or size of your words.

BTW, there are many special works on fotor.com like Montage and Shape Collage, that's a kind of interesting Text work, try it for fun!

you could downlad it at fotor.com for Free, for iphone/android/desktop:)

IPhone apps for a crafty person?

kaywee

What are some good iPhone apps for a new mom, pretty crafty but always looking for new ideas. Anything pertaining to kids or babies, food, toys etc. Also apps about babies (growth/learn). Thanks!! P.s already have Pinterest

Answer
1. Evernote- It's really handy when you need to scribble something down, or take a pic of something. It's quite similar to having a digital filing cabinet

2. ShopSaavy- Scan the bar code of an item at the store, and it will show you the prices at other stores in the nearby area. It redefines "bargain shopping".

3. Coupon Sherpa Mobile- pulls up coupons for a wide variety of stores, so you don't need to waste time printing or clipping them.

4. Ace Budget- Enter your purchases, and it shows your budget.

5. Alphabet Discovery- Will help your child learn the alphabet.

6. iLearn with Boing: Ocean Adventures

7. Angry Birds

8. AlphaBee

9. Magical Music Box

10. College Save- Helps you budget so you can start saving for your kid's college.

11. Dinner Spinner Pro- You can plan the meals for the week, you can search Allrecipes.com, and you can send recipes to friends.

12. Sit Or Squat Bathroom Finder- Perfect for potty training. It shows info and ratings of bathrooms nearby, and whether or not there's a changing table.

13. Blux Camera- It's a brand new app that I've really been loving. It automatically recommends settings based on the lighting, weather, time of day, etc. There're really cool retro filters that you can use, plus you can control the saturation, sharpness, temperature, etc. It also has a lot of different modes, like portrait, landscape, food, etc. The cool thing, though, is that you can apply all the effects before you snap the photo... so you know exactly what the photo is going to look like before you take it (useful to make sure your kid isn't making any weird face). It's also really easy to upload photos onto Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's also nice, as it improves the resolution of the iPhone camera, making the pics clearer. So if you ever want to print them or make them into posters, they come out much better.

Is the Hipstamatic app for iPhone worth $2?

iphone photo apps retro on Latest Technology Products: 8mm Vintage Camera for iPhone/iPod Touch

Karii Hear

I've been hearing that its a great app and all, but is it worth spending 2 bucks on? :|

Answer
I think it is. Hipstamatic creates great looking retro photo effects that so far no other photo apps have been able to match. The color, noise, light, vignette and border effects all look great. For $2, the app comes with enough standard gear to be useful -- "films" and "lens" filters. The square pics are perfect for saving to Instagram, if you choose.

Additional film and lens paks are released regularly for anywhere from free to $2. Beware -- they can be addicting! I've purchased them all. Many of them are pretty nice. Some of them you'll never use. The paks can turn into a regular monthly addition $1-$2 cost for the app. Often they're worth it.

Disclosure: I write an iPhone photo blog, lifeinlofi.com. I often recommend Hipstamatic on my blog as both a great starter photo app and just a good app to have. Other than having met the developers, I have no other connection with the company. I just really like Hipstamatic.
