Are you happy with your iPhone?

I am thinking about getting an iPhone⦠what are the pros and cons?

Answer
I LOVE my iPhone. I had the very first one, and now I have the newest iPhone 3GS. I highly recommend it.

APPS
There are thousands of applications for everything and anything. I split my iPhone into sections too because I have so many apps. I have my games ones, which a lot of them you can play online against complete strangers, or with your friends next to you in person, or with your friends over wi-fi, my school apps, which has the periodic table, language translator, Chinese words, flash cards, homework reminder, a planner, my news apps, music apps, etc. They seriously have an application for everything you can think of, even some sort of pointless but still addictive ones like how fast you can roll up toilet paper. And if you have a super specific app in mind that they don't have (which is sometimes hard to believe with all of the ones they have already), you can always make it yourself or there are hundreds of people online who ask for projects to do so they can make your app and practice their coding and stuff. Plus, there are so many companies making iPhone apps, if they don't already have one. Like they have MovieFone and Fandango, where you can check out movie times, reviews, and even order your tickets. Qdoba and PizzaHut have apps that allow you to order what you want from your iPhone. RedLaser is a cool app that allows you to scan a barcode of anything, and it'll immediately search online and show you all the prices of different sites online of that exact item you scanned.

GPS / MAPS
I've saved so many printed out pieces of paper of directions from MapQuest and GoogleMaps after buying my iPhone. It's seriously so easy to search locations or restaurants or any place online and then it telling me how to get there from my current location. Plus, if you really want to get the better talking GPS, they have apps for that (I usually switch around between the Maps it comes with and the ones that talk to you depending on where I'm going and how familiar I am with the place).

INTERNET / MAIL
It's SOOOOOOOO handy to have internet on your phone and everywhere you go, especially for checking e-mail accounts too. Like if you're a business person or even have an e-mail for colleges (which is what I'm doing right now), it's super helpful. I link multiple e-mails on my iPhone at once, and it tells you whenever you get a new e-mail. Having internet in general is just really handy, especially in today's life. I can always search stuff on the spot, whether it's for school, or even for fun.

CONS
People who don't have AT&T will say that having to switch over to AT&T is one of their cons. But really, you don't have to if you don't want to. You can definitely get an iPhone and unlock and use it with whatever carrier you choose to (Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) There are also certain specifics that some iPhone users will say they don't like about their phone, but a lot of the applications they have in the App Store fixes them. For example, the copy and paste that the iPhone comes with is very simple, you just select what you want and can copy or cut and paste it somewhere else. But then there's a 5-star app called PasteBot which enhances the regular iPhone's copy and paste a ton. The app runs in the background and saves everything you ever copy into their app, and then when you open it you can organize everything you've copied (including pictures), filter them, e-mail them, sync them, etc. Another example would be the iPhone's camera app. There are a ton of REALLY good iPhone photography apps in the App Store. A lot of them even have a self-timer, can create time-lapses, and even show a grid on the screen so if you want make sure whatever you're taking a picture of is straight or is following the photographic two-thirds rule, etc. Basically what I'm trying to get at is the main cons that do come with the iPhone's standard settings or apps, can easily be fixed by the apps.

Overall, I would just really recommend an iPhone. And you can't go wrong without it. If you have any questions, definitely let me know!

blackberry bold 9900 vs iphone 4s?

Cookie

for christmas, my dad said he would buy me a new phone to replace my 6 year old iphone 3G(no, not the 3GS, just 3G). so i'm stuck between the dilemma of the blackberry bold 9900 and the iphone 4s. there were mixed reviews for the iphone 4s, some horrible, some phenomenal. could you help me make some comparisons between the two phones following the criteria here?
-typing
-generally easier to use
-apps (all apps, not just games)
-games
-photography and videography.

thanks sooo much in advance, and if you would like to add to the criteria, please feel free.

i love britney spears <3 <3 <3 britney ftw

Answer
1-(typing) black berry. 2-(easier to use) Tuff one maybe....iPhone 3-(apps) tie, they both have a bunch of apps but I heard that black berry a has a bunch of more free apps. 4-(games) black berry but it's tuff 5-(photography and videography) iPhone plus you can buy a buch of apps to edit videos and pictures. Total= black berry-3 IPhone-2 but honestly there both very good if you get one and not the other you won't regret much. It also depends on ur career like black berry is better for business where iPhone is also good for business but can still offer alot for other jobs. What ever you decide you will have very little to no regrets. And yes britney 4 the win :). - Carter

Photography apps for iPhone?

Anon

I love editing my photos & am looking for some new apps to use. I already have instagram, picfix, pixlromatic(free version),filtermania 2,& I just recently bought camera+. I've thought about getting vintique($.99) & snapseed($4.99),but I don't know if I'd enjoy them enough for how much their worth after I bought them. Anyone who uses those(or have used them)have any reviews? I've heard a lot of people like snapseed, but I wasn't sure I wanted to spend $5 on it if I wouldn't like it. What other photo editing apps are worth getting?

Answer
Snapseed is one of my favorite editing apps, as is Pro HDR, & Phototoaster.
I have Instagram too, & love it...

I want to get an iPad, but are iPads really worth the money?

Andrew

I don't want to waste my money since iPads are so expensive. I currently have an iTouch, that I've had for 2 years. Is the iPad really worth the money?

Answer
Pros
-Design
There was a lot to like about the original iPad, but the new version makes the old one look like a brick. It's one-third thinner, and will feel significantly less bulky when travelling and attending meetings.

The actual design of the device itself has changed as well. The back is completely flat with rounded edges where it meets the screen. Reports from various reviews show the gadget itself feels much sturdier than the previous version, even with a lighter weight.

-Video conferencing
The two new cameras in the iPad won't deliver you high-class photography, but for using FaceTime and other video conferencing apps they'll be useful enough. This was one of the most requested features for the iPad 2 and Apple has delivered the goods.

-Apps
While the first iPad was criticised as being more of a content consumption device rather than a content creation device, Apple is starting to challenge that assumption. It has gotten rid of the iPad keyboard dock, and has introduced a couple of new apps that definitely make the iPad a powerhouse content creator.

-The iMovie editing suite and Garage Band apps really show off what the iPad is capable of. Since last year, the iPad may not have completely replaced a laptop, but using remote login apps like LogMeIn and the SalesForce platform means you can actually run many parts of a business straight from the device itself.

-Spend some time in the App store before you buy an iPad, as the software you use will really define what type of gadget you have. But you'll probably find that since last year, more apps are now allowing you to create content just as a laptop would.

-Power/battery life
While the battery life hasn't improved since the last model, it's impressive that Apple has been able to reduce a third of the size and still maintain its length. Reports indicate you'll get 10 hours of video and up to a month on standby time.

The processing power has also vastly improved, thanks to the A5 chip, apps open faster and are much more responsive.

CONS!!!!
Screen
This may be a case of unwarranted expectation, but many were disappointed with NO HIGH END DISPLAY LIKE IN IPHONE AND IPOD in the iPad 2. While these expectations were only based on rumours, it nevertheless presents a dilemma â what is Apple using the retina screen in the iPhone and not in the iPad?

The iPad screen resolution isn't necessarily bad, but you won't be able to watch content as high quality as you could on another tablet.

********(THIS IS WHY I THINK THE IPAD IS NOT THERE YET!!!!!!!)
No USB, no SD card reader and no removable battery, With other tablets turning out great features the ipad is falling behind. They say the ipad is great for pictures and videos so it would be nice to take your sd card right out of a camera have a Sd plug on the ipad to download all the pictures? â while it may be unfair to expect these features from Apple, it's clear rivals such as Samsung and Motorola are delivering in the features department.

Yes, the iPad comes with a HD connection kit, but it costs $US39. Until Apple starts putting in extra functionality the iPad could be a second-choice for some tablet owners.

4G
While the 4G network may not have taken off in Australia yet, other tablets are getting on that bandwagon quickly. The Motorola Xoom is just one of the tablets that has the ability to access faster wireless networks, and Apple may be left behind in that department if it doesn't add 4G in the next iPad iteration.

Its just an oversized ipod, it is all based on your needs to buy one. instead of an apple tablet maybe a motorola, samsung, blackberry tablet will be cheaper.
