What photo editing apps are the best buy for Mac lion?

I'm an amateur photographer and i need some editing programs for my new mac. I am looking for something with pre made filters you can just click and your photo turns into that filter and something that you can manually touch up with brightness contrast saturation etc.

Less than $20 PLEASE!

I need a photo editing software for free that works like the mac books. The mac book has a beautiful editing software. Unfortunately I do not have the mac book. I have an Acer. So what is a good Editing Software. So you can do things like personality pictures. I do not like photoshop that much because i don't understand it. Thank you for your help.

- I'm mentioning it because it's more or less obligatory. Honestly, though, if you found Photoshop too confusing, I'd steer you away from GIMP for now. It's easily the most powerful free image editor, but it's got a _very_ steep learning curve. Feel free to try it, but I'd really point you towards one of the online ones to begin with.

iPhoto is not an editing program for text and the like. iPhoto can do all kinds of photo editing, as well as album organization, interaction with other iLife apps, etc. Just no text adding. Use any of the following graphics editors to add text:
