What GB of iPhone 5 should I get?

Tami

Greetings, Cyber friends! (lol k. That intro did not work >.< )

Anywhoo, I'll be getting a new iPhone 5 this week or next week, and I'm torn between the 32 GB and the 64 GB. I signed up a 3 years contract with my local phone carrier, so I need a GB that will sustain my needs for three long years.... -.-

I owned a 16GB iPhone 4s for about a month, and quickly filled that up, but I CAN make more space by deleting apps/photos, if I wanted to. But this time is different since I'll be using this phone for a while, and I really don't want to regret the decision of choosing the wrong size.

I'll probably have all my favorite songs stored in there because I don't own an iPod and my iPhone will practically serve as one. My iPhone will also serve as my camera since I do not currently own one, and I like to take pictures and videos & just keep them there on my phone. I won't be downloading any movies or music videos (that's for sure) coz I would rather watch videos on my Macbook. Plus, there is also YouTube. ^^ As for games I will probably download a bunch, just the games that I really enjoy and play most of the time, but there are new games every year, and some with bigger sizes than others. Most of my apps will probably just be photo editing apps/video editing apps since I am really into that.

Well, that's pretty much it. Money is kinda tight. I can afford a 32 GB, but another extra 100 for the 64 GB, i'll have to work extra hard for that, and I really wouldn't want to waste money if I pick the wrong size.

If I end up taking the 32 GB, what happens if I fill that space up quickly and will start hating my phone (lol)?

If I end up taking the 64 GB, what happens if I don't fill the space up, and end up regretting paying an extra hundred bucks for spaces I won't even use?

Thanks in advance!!

Answer
Better solution is to get lap top or i-Pad but if you really want to have i-Phone get 32 GB one because you will not gonna fill up 32 GB space quickly or anytime :)

Good Luck.

how can i delete contents of screens using GO launcher for my android?

Louiegirl_

i have an android smartphone. it is a samsung galaxy SII (S2), model SCH-R760 (my carrier's model name). i take apps from google playstore.

i like my screens to feature tiny and unobtrusive icons. i like maximum open screen real estate so that i am comforted with each screen's emptiness (primarily), affording me to look at the beautiful live wallpapers i paid for--much like if you go onto windows and do not have many icons sitting there to interrupt your peace of mind.

i also like the applications and the appearance of icons then from GO launcher. do you happen to know of an app whereby i can delete all contents of my various GO launcher screens and start anew, using the same screens, but that they would first be mostly only wallpaper?

what i would like most is to place like-kind application icons for (for example) photography/video/menu of those apps, editing the photos/videos, etc. into one folder and then place that folder onto each screen. i want to do the same thing with other like-kind apps, for instance, all apps pertaining to backup of my variety of apps that need backup. little folder icons would be far better on my eyes.

i want the maximum number of GO launcher screens too, so that if I MUST, i will place an app icon that is not in a folder where i will need it fast, for instance, my prized flashlight app, which has no "like kind" app to put into a folder.

i do not wish to reformat the phone and i do not want to root it.

any ideas? please include the all-famous--but mostly forgotten--Step One. :-)

Answer
Long press the icons and either slide them to the recycling bin looking icon at the top or bottom (depends on what theme you have) or release after it's selected and hit the delete option that pops up on the top right of the icon or widget you want to remove. You have to do this with each widget/icon. I am not aware of a clear all home screens option.

To add more homescreens long press any blank space and scroll through until you find a blank screen with a plus in the middle. Tap it, and it adds a new blank screen. I believe you can delete whole screens using this method and then add a new screen to replace it to avoid removing individual icons.

Also you could try to go to menu
Settings
Applications
running apps
Find go launcher
Clear all data and cache

Not 100% but that should delete all homescreens settings to start fresh.

:)

OCD much??? Lol.

looking at getting one of these two phones. will be my first smart phone. i have seen many good reviews for both phones. i have also seen a few negative reviews for both phones. i will be using the phone mainly for internet browsing, social media, music, and some apps. please recommend one or the other and give reasons/problems/anything else that would help me choose. no alternatives please.

Answer
Go with the Razr Maxx. I own this phone and it is the best phone out....period.

The Consumer Report overall score is 80 out of a possible 100. This phone was rated excellent in all categories but three. Two were a very good rating and one good rating. CR rated this phone higher than any current smartphone that Verizon has and was second only to the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket (AT&T) which has a score of 81. Plus you get the speed of Verizon's LTE Network. This phone will soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich (the new Android operating system) and will also soon have international roaming available.

CR's Take
With its phenomenal battery life, the Droid Razr Maxx will give you more time to enjoy its many high-definition, high-speed, charms at full throttle without being tethered to a charger.

Highs
⢠Outstanding battery life, with 13.25 hours of talk time
⢠Superb 4.3-inch high-resolution display with excellent keypad readability under most lighting conditions, even in bright light
⢠Exceptional ease of use, messaging, and Web browsing
⢠Excellent e-mail readability and attachment capabilities
⢠Lets you create and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets out of the box
⢠Very good photo quality
⢠Supports fast 4G data networks, which lets Verizon users, for the first time, be on a phone call while surfing the Web
⢠Uses versatile Android operating system, with access to many apps and services

Lows
⢠Larger than many of the smart phones we've tested
⢠Has a non-removable battery
⢠Fair voice quality when listening
⢠Lacks a physical button for quick phone access, and its virtual keypad makes it hard to enter a number without looking
⢠Lacks preset text messages and doesn't let you create your own presets (GoSMS fixes this)

As for the iPhone 4s.......It scores 67 out of 100 points.

CR's Take
iPhone 4S builds on the versatility and innovation of its predecessor by including one of the best cameras we've seen on a phone, and a fascinating, built-in voice-activated "assistant" called Siri that's fairly good at following complex orders--at least most of the time. What's more, this model doesn't have the signal-reception problem we confirmed on the iPhone 4 during testing.

Highs
⢠Built-in voice-controlled personal digital assistant
⢠Top-notch high-resolution display
⢠Display and keypad are easy to see in bright light
⢠Dynamic, intuitive iOS operating system provides superb multimedia functionality and simple access to most features
⢠Among the best phone cameras for both picture and video quality
⢠Front-facing camera facilitates video chats and self-portraits
⢠The best mp3 player we've seen in a phone, with a unique interface that lets you flip through your music
⢠Easy access to Apple's online stores, with an unmatched selection of apps, games, music, and more
⢠Can be used internationally

Lows
⢠Doesn't allow you to create and edit Word documents or Excel spreadsheets out of the box, though you can open them
⢠Lacks Flash video
⢠Fair voice quality when listening
⢠Virtual keypad makes it hard to enter a number without looking
⢠Lacks a physical button for quick phone access
⢠Phone battery can only be replaced by Apple

Which should I buy? Expression web, media, blend, or design?

Rowin

I confused since they are all webpage makers.
Which should I choose or buy them all ?

Answer
I thought it is one bundled program.

read this cnet review
Microsoft's new Expression lineup includes four applications: Web for building Web sites, Media for organizing images and other digital media, Design for drawing vector graphics, and Blend for building rich media applications. This new package encroaches upon imaging and coding territory long served by Adobe as well as competitors such as Corel.

The interface of Expression Web closely resembles that of Adobe Dreamweaver.

Most of the Expression programs require that you run at least Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP1 or newer, or the new Windows Vista. Make sure to check the ReadMe section of Microsoft's Web site before installation. You may have to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (or 3.0 for Expression Design) and uninstall any beta versions of Microsoft Office 2007. A trial download of Expression Web, a final product, is available at CNET Download.com. The other programs remain in development and can be found at Microsoft's Web site.

Once it's running, Expression Web offers a variety of templates--not as many as Dreamweaver CS3 offers, but enough to get started with a basic personal or small business Web site. You also can import a site you already have via FrontPage extensions, FTP, HTTP, WebDAV, or files on your hard drive.

Because Web resembles Dreamweaver, its multiple panes and views of nested folders appear less friendly for Web design newbies than its predecessor, FrontPage. However, this is a plus for professional coders who live and breathe Cascading Style Sheets and XML. (Microsoft still offers simple online tools for Web design newbies, such as templates that accompany a free domain name through Office Live.)

You can view the code, design, or both at once while docking Task Panes on the left-hand side of the interface. Tabs along the top organize open HTML pages. If you're an experienced coder, it's easy to drag and drop code elements onto the page in Expression Web. Plus, clicking on an element in the code view will highlight its corresponding content in the design view.

Expression Media manages more than 100 types of files.

Expression Media is an updated and repackaged version of iView MediaPro, which Microsoft bought last year. Similar to Apple Aperture and Adobe Lightroom, this Digital Asset Management application helps you manage catalogs, or libraries, of work. Media can wrangle files in more than 100 formats, such as RAW files. It also steps you through publishing content as a photo gallery or movie. Unlike other Expression apps, Media works with Macs as well as PCs. During our tests of the beta 2 version, Media still hadn't adopted the look and feel common to the other three Expression applications. Still, we found Media easy to figure out from the get-go. Although Media offers fewer features than Lightroom, the beta was intuitive in our tests, with drag-and-drop features and self-explanatory bulk tagging.

Expression Design graphics software performs pixel and vector image editing, a lightweight mix of features offered by Adobe competitors Photoshop and Illustrator. For instance, with Design you can add Live Effects to an image without making a permanent change, similar to the new nondestructive Smart Layers in Photoshop CS3. We easily adjusted to the interface, which once again strongly resembles Adobe software.

tell me why i should get the lg dare?

fishes-are

i would like to know why i should buy the lg dare...best, most informative gets 10 points!!

Answer
HAHA i just answered a question about the LG Dare, asking me information, so i hope you dont mind me posting the same Review i gave them, its just a really good review! ENJOY!

Its super long!

"Dare to be different," the saying goes, but the LG Dare is really Verizon Wireless's attempt to fit in, to offer a phone that's more like the AT&T LG Vu and Sprint Samsung Instinct, not to mention Apple's similarly priced iPhone 3G. The truth is, the Dare may not be as glamorous or well-priced as the Instinct, but it has a better browser, a motion sensor and some cool software tricks that make it a fine phone for people who choose to remain in Verizon's walled garden. And it puts Verizon's previous iClone attempts, the LG Voyager and the Samsung Glyde, to lowdown dirty shame.

As I think we've firmly established, we call these iPhone clones because they are made superficially with the look and feel of the iPhone in mind. They are not direct competitors to the iPhone, as they don't run on a smart, open platform like iPhonesâor Blackberry and Windows Mobile phonesâdo. The Dare, like the Instinct, is closed and proprietary, geared to customers who like much of what the carrier has to offer, and would just like a better way to make use of it. And after spending some time with the Dare, I can safely say that, much like the Instinct, it really does let you do that. Easier Access
For starters, Verizon has done away with its dependence on unchangeable, annoyingly deep menus. With the Dare, you can drag any app or function directly to the desktop for one-click access. You can add key people to the Favorites launcher, where you simply drag their face to the phone or message icons to call or launch a new SMS.Even those cryptic notification icons always seen at tops of phones are clickable on the Dare.E-mail and Web
Let me get this off my chest first: The Dare browser is WAY better than the Instinct's, both in rendering speed and page layout. You can navigate Gizmodo with very little trouble, especially if you're going read-only. My only complaint was that there was no way I could find to speed-scroll through so many blog posts without giving my thumb a callous.Verizon's E-mail app is basically the same as it's been for about six or eight months. I do not recommend it for business use, as it's not very full featured, but I was able to get the Dare to notify me whenever any mail from three different accounts came through, and the iPhone-like QWERTY keyboard with pop-up letters really helped when typing. The only trouble I had sending e-mail was due to a funky POP3 account with ambiguous recommended settings. (One negative: You can't edit POP settings once you've configured them, so I had to keep deleting and adding the same account over and over again.)

Premium Unlimited-Use Plans
The good news is, unlimited use of e-mail and web are included in Verizon's new premium price plans, along with unlimited text messaging, unlimited use of basic V Cast clips and ACTUALLY USEFUL stuff like the ESPN MVP sports and WeatherBug web apps. Though it seems at first glance that pricing is a tad higher that Sprint's, the difference is negligible:

$80/month - 450 primetime talk minutes
$100/month - 900 primetime talk minutes
$120/month - 1350 primetime talk minutes
$140/month - Unlimited talk minutes
And yes, there are family premium plans that give you these perks for multiple (compatible) phones. The phone itself is $200 after a mail-in rebate.

Lighter Features
In our introductory walkthrough video, we showed you some awesome traits. After a revisit during our review, here's how those features held up:

⢠Slow-mo video cam - It's a bit grainy, but with decent light, it could make some interesting videos at 120 frames per second. The 3.2 megapixel camera is decent, but nothing to write home about.

⢠Full photo editing - Speaking of camera, the editing feature is not as "full" as we first thought. There's no red-eye reduction or shadow/highlight or color adjustment. Most of the options are actually novelty, and even for being silly they are not very useable.

⢠Music player - Good: Plays MP3s and even iTunes Plus DRM-free AACs that you drag to the "My Music" folder of the MicroSD card (up to 8GB); Bad: Still has issues with tags, and appears to count image metadata as additional song files, so browsing by Artist or Album is fine, but browsing "All Songs" is messy. In addition to that the video player reads standard MP4 (but not H.264), and pauses songs when you switch to video playback, only to pick up where it left off once you're done.Hardware
Like the Sprint Instinct, there's a 3.5mm jack for universal headphone fit, but unlike the Instinct, the Dare has a motion sensor inside that tells whether you're holding the phone horizontally or vertically. Videos, photos and the music browser all automatically adjust, as do keyboards and web pages. It's a nice touch, though I'll be honest, you don't really miss it

Android or Windows 8 tablet?

top 100 photo editing apps on Mosaic Frog Photo by crissylaviolette | Photobucket
top 100 photo editing apps image

me, myself

Hi there, I'm currently looking for a tablet. I've never owned one before so I have no experience whatsoever with the gadget. I'm confused as to whether I should choose Android or Windows 8 as my tablet's OS.

One thing for sure, I won't be getting iOS because I have a Lenovo laptop and I want to be able to connect my tablet to my laptop.

I would only use my tablet primarily for reading pdf's and watching videos (such as youtube or flv/mp4 files) and also for wi-fi. I'm not going to use it for gaming or video/photo editing and other stuff like that.

So here are some features that I'm looking for in my tablet for consideration:
- Large screen size (reading & watching videos are more comfortable on large screens)
- Long or at least a decent battery life (I spend most of my time on the road so I won't have plenty of time to charge every now and then)
- A nice screen display (again, for reading & watching video purposes)

That's it. Like I said, I won't be using it to play games or other high-tech utility stuff; only the basic stuff such as reading, watching videos, and wi-fi.

Thank you in advance.
Could you also recommend me the name/brand of the tablets? There are so many Android/Windows 8 tablets out there. Each has its own specs and features. I don't know much about tablets so I'm clueless as to choose the right one for me.
Wow thank you Jdeats. That's some insightful info you've provided me right there. :) Anyway, yeah a lot of people told me to go with Android tablets instead since Windows 8 tends to have a lot of problems that ought to be fixed by Microsoft,

I was initially thinking something like the Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note 10.1, Google Nexus 10, or Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, but I have my doubts though because I heard/read that :
- Galaxy Tab/Note : screen quality is rather poor
- Nexus 10 : battery life is disappointing (plus the charger charges very slowly it's annoying)
- Asus Transformer : sooo.... pricey (plus I also heard that it still runs on the old Ice Cream Sandwich OS as opposed to the current Jellybean - don't know if it would make much of a difference though)

So I don't know....

I've heard before about Microsoft Surface Pro and Amazon Kindle Fire but I haven't really checked on them both. But I do know that cnet.com named Microsoft Surface the best Wind
Oh my previous post got cut...! Anyway, here's the rest of the post :

I've heard before about Microsoft Surface Pro and Amazon Kindle Fire but I haven't really checked on them both. But I do know that cnet.com named Microsoft Surface the best Windows 8 tablet around and Kindle Fire HD the best media consumption tablet.

I don't know, though. I still have my doubts. What do you think?

Answer
First a bit about Windows tablets: Windows tablets actually come in two varieties, Windows 8 tablets which are actually tablet/notebook PC hybrids (e.g. Microsoft Surface Pro) and then those running Windows RT (Microsoft Surface) which is a stripped down version of Windows 8 that looks like Windows 8, but can only run Windows RT apps purchased through the Microsoft app store. The price difference is significant. Windows RT tablets start around $500 ($600 with the keyboard/case attachment) and then Windows 8 tablets (Surface Pro) starting around $900. Windows RT is Microsoft's tablet OS and devices that run Windows RT are lighter weight and are priced comparable to other tablets. Tablet devices running Windows 8 are really notebooks that can transform into heavy tablets. The thing I love about the Microsoft Surface tablets are the flip-case and the integrated keyboard. No other tablet gets this right like Microsoft has done. Also, I like that Microsoft Office is included with every Windows tablet.

Android tablets will give you access to more apps and will cost about $100 less for comparable screen size. If you have an Android phone you'll be able to download apps you've already purchased through Google Play or Amazon App Store to your tablet at no cost. Samsung Galaxy Tab and Google Nexus 10 are two models I would recommend looking at, both will give you access to the Google Play Store with tens of thousands of movies, books, etcâ¦

Based on what you've said you're looking for "using it for the basic stuff: reading, watching videos, wi-fi (web browsing)" I would strongly recommend you look at the larger Kindle Fire HD 8.9". The Kindle Fire HD is an Android tablet, it's just running Amazon's custom version of Android. The most popular Android apps are available in the Amazon App store. On top of being a high quality product the Kindle Fire HD has the advantage of Amazon's huge library of movies, books and music. No other tablet can claim this library and Amazon has not released their video player for other Android tablets. You can rent movies on the Kindle Fire HD that you can not on a Windows tablet or any other Android tablet yet, Google Play and Microsoft's App Store just can't compete with Amazon's library.

So given all of this information I would suggest taking a trip to your local Best Buy and spending some time with the Microsoft Surface, The Galaxy Tab and the Kindle Fire HD.
