Iphone "other" category issue?

I desperately need to lower the "other" category. I have 2.6 GB of music; 0.98 GB of photos; 3.6 GB of apps, and 5.6 GB OF OTHER! It takes ups the majority of space on my phone! I only have 1.30 GB of free space. I've heard that restoring it can solve it but I had a horrible experience with restoring my iphone in the past. I've tried erasing a lot of texts, my safari history, etc. Is there any way of fixing this without restoring? & and if i HAVE to restore, it will delete my photos, texts, and music, correct?

Step 1: Turn of sync music in iTunes
When you have synced your iPhone and noticed that âother filesâ have taken up a lot of storage space on the iPhone, un-tick the âsync musicâ alternative in iTunes before un-connecting your iPhone.

Step 2: Install DiskAid software on computer/mac (Instead of using DiskAid (paid), I used iPhone Explorer (which is free.))
DiskAid is a neat little software that allows you transfer files to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, treating it as a USB drive. They offer a free trial of the software so no need to purchase it first time you have to use it at least.
Make sure your iPhone is connected with the USB when you open up DiskAid. When the program is running, at the bottom left corner it says âDiskAid folderâ, click on the drop down list and choose âmedia foldersâ.

Step 3: Go into iTunes Control folder and then the Music folder
In DiskAid you will see an overview of all the folders and files on your iPhone. Go to the iTunes Control Folder and then the subfolder called Music. Under the Music folder you will likely see a lot of subfolders starting with âfâ.

Step 4: Delete/remove all subfolders in Music
Delete all the subfolders under the Music folder. They include the files that are hogging your iPhone memory under âother filesâ.

Step 5: Open iTunes and sync your iPhone
With âmusic syncâ still turned off in iTunes, sync your iPhone. This will remove all music files from your iPhone, but keep all other content. Donât worry about this though, as in the next steps you will sync the music back onto your iPhone.

Step 6: Unplug iPhone and reboot it
Once the iPhone has finished syncing, unplug it and perform a reboot. The reboot is done by holding down the âpower downâ button at the top right at the same times as holding down the control button. Hold both of them until the iPhone has switched off and the Apple logo appears on the screen before releasing both buttons. This action will reboot your iPhone.

Step 7: Reconnect your iPhone to iTunes and recheck âsync musicâ
This will put your music back onto the iPhone, and you should not see any of the âother filesâ taking up any of the iPhone memory. Once the sync is complete your iPhone should be all sorted again.
If you still see âother filesâ taking up memory on your iPhone you have likely done something wrong or left out subfolders in step 4.
Also, delete the same type of sub-folders in the PWNTunes Itunes Control folder as well if you are jailbroken and have PWNTunes installed.

Should I get a 4g new iPad or a 4g android tablet and get the iPad 4 next year?

I have a 32gb iPad 2 wifi only. I am wanting to get a new ipad 3 with 4g so I can surf the web when I'm not at my house. I would also need to get a 64gb model because I am constantly having to delete stuff and I recently had to delete my photos from iPhoto to save space. I use my iPad primary for web browsing and sharing my photos. I also have a lot of apps and movies/music. If I get the new IPad I'll have a better screen to share photos with and Internet but it'll cost me $830! I was thinking I could get a cheaper android tablet like the samsung galaxy tab 8,9 lte from AT&T but I won't be able to Transfer my iTunes music easily and I'll have to transfer my photos through my computer. Does the galaxy tab let you share a mobile hotspot what about the new IPad? AT&T said they are working on it but does that mean you'll have to pay extra for tethering? (I want AT&T because I have an AT&T iPhone 4s and They said they will be coming out with shared data plans. I do not want to use the hotspot on my iPhone because I'll have to pay $50 and right now I have the $25 2gb plan and I can't go back to the 2gb I'll have to go to the $30 3gb plan plus no lte.) Or I could get the new iPad and a cheap android tablet because I want to try Android for once instead of being stuck with apple for everything but that would be $830 plus $200-$300 so it would be better to get an android 4g tablet and wait for the iPad 4 or mini.

Are you then going to replace that as soon as another new iPad gets released? I understand that you'd want it, but honestly if the last iPad only came out last March, it makes no sense to me spending hundreds of dollars to replace it now.

You don;t have to save all of your stuff on the same device at the same time.

On top of whatever was spent on the last one, less what you can get by selling it, but also adding in Applecare. That's close to a thousand bucks just to have apps (not real software), and a slightly better multimedia capability than you can get with a cellphone (even basic phones can play music and video). Also, there's the cost of the data plan.

And you already have an iPhone introduced last fall.

You got an iPad no earlier than last Spring, then an iPhone a few months after that, and now you're looking for a new tablet so you can surf the web away from home (which you can already do with your iPhone). I don't know who paid for all of this but it just sounds weird that you're being price-concious now.

Here's an idea - why not stick with what you have and at least get some use out of the stuff that's already been dearly paid for?

I may be upgrading my cell phone in a couple days to an Iphone honestly just cause I want a smart phone. I?

don't really no what like 3g and 4g mean but most people i no have the newist iphone which i believe is the iphone 4 in 3g. So i'm wondering what that means, what kind of plan should i ask for, will getting an Iphone raise my cell bill, and what are "aps" that i here everyone asking?? Do these "aps" come free or do you have to buy them and raise your bill?? What is a term i've heard called "Jailbreaking"?? I know i sound like a complete noob right now but hey, i just don't no. lol Also how many song's can these things hold? Is there any such thing as 5g?? Iphone 5?? The main thing that effects the answers is what company is your service through or which do you want. I have an iphone 4 through verizon and I love the service and ease of use. A friend of mine had one with AT&T and he had major issues with getting service.
3g and 4g is the system they use for your online coverage. 4g is faster than 3g so your browsing will be faster with 4g. It is one of those things where everyone will have 4g with time.I am on 3g with verizon and I have no complaints about the speed at all.
If you do not have unlimited data on your plan you will pay more on your bill, verizon is $30/month extra if you don't have it and AT&T charges $25/month for 2 GB/month. I have used 1.2 GB in 15 days for a reference.
Apps are applications that you download to your phone or ipod touch, if you have one, for entertainment or information. For example I have games, sportcenter, and local gas prices apps on my iphone. There are free apps and apps you pay for. Apps you pay for do not raise your bill, you buy them from iTunes on your phone or computer and iTunes charges the credit card on file. If you download apps on your computer through iTunes you have to sync your phone which takes a few minutes.
Jailbreaking is releasing your phone from the things Apple and the carrier don't want you to do so you can use things like non iTunes apps and get ringtones for your phone but I would not recommend doing it because it could void your warranty and your phone could die. The # of songs is directly related to the memory already used and the size of the songs. I have a 16 GB iphone which gives me 14 GB of total free memory to use. For example: I have 781 songs, 4 videos, 14 photos, and 21 apps which allows me 7.9 GB available. It all just depends on what you have. You can also buy the 32 GB iphone but I figured any music that I actually want to listen to, or apps I will actually use I can fit on the 16 GB iphone. If I run out of memory I can delete things that are obsolete to me.
Rumor has it that there will be an iphone 5 and my source says it should be coming out for verizon in the next few months but that could change due to production time and problems that are revealed during testing. The third source is a good rumor mill for the iphone 5 and the fourth source has the rumored changes.
I have used the current typical competitors for the iphone and they all have many of the same features and I have no complaints about my browser speed so the competition couldn't really impress me. I like the iphone because it is very simple to use and the touch response is very good. I wish the phone would react to anything touching it like a pencil eraser instead of just my fingers so I could hide using it in class better but o well. The fifth source shows iphone compared to Droid X, a top competitor. In the end you will have to do research and decide what is important to you.

IPhone camera roll selection problem?

I'm using my iPhone and I want to look at my pictures. When I open up the photos app the albums page appears with the option to open up (by tapping, of course) the camera roll so I can look at my pictures. The problem is, the "Camera Roll" button (I guess I should call it that) is at the way top past the gray border at the top that says "Albums" when you open up the photos on an itouch/phone. I can't select it because it is out of reach and when I try to scroll it down it quickly moves back up again.. so I can't look at my pictures, because the option to do so is beyond reach and I cant select it.. help? :0

Hi there:

I have the same problem yesterday, and just call Apple helpline to solve this problem. It's actually a very easy problem to fix.

Step 1: Press the round bottom button on your iphone twice until you see the multi-tasking feature shaken.
Step 2: Choose any open app and press on it until you see the little red minus sign
Step 3: Press the red minus sign to close all the open app
Step 4: When all apps are closed, press the home screen button again
Step 5: Now, press the power button until you completely shut down your iphone
Step 6: Wait 30 second for the phone before rebooting
Step 7: Turn on your iphone again, now go to Photo app, your cameral roll should be visible again to select
