How do you sync everything from your iphone to your computer?

I need to save my photos apps and music from iphone onto my itunes because my photos messing up and I want to make sure I don't loose anything. So how do I sync things from my iphone to itunes?

if you are using a mac it will open iPhoto when you plug it in and you can sync then
if you are running windows- (As i am not) i would Check to see if your ICloud is big enough to hold them all or open ICloud and pull your pic to your computer from there

What does it mean to sync my iPhone to my iMac?

Because when I "sync" my iPhone & Mac, does the syncing make my iPhone look exactly like my computer (for example, changes I've made to my Contacts) or will the changes I've made in Contacts revert back to how the contact is on my iPhone directly after "syncing is complete?"

The contacts will all be updated on the computer and on the iPhone, they will end up being identical after a sync. Syncing includes everything to do with moving files and stuff from computer to iPhone, including music, videos, apps, photos etc...
