iPod to computer free?

How come there is no fully free software to move songs off your iPod onto your computer?! I mean come on! No body's made of money! Can anyone help me find one?
EDIT: I need one that works with iPod touch version 4.
I need one that has a trail that will let me get all of my songs , or one that is completely free... please... i dont have money to waste on those, and i dont want to start making a list like i did last time, that took forever, even using frostwire..
Nevermind! found the answer to my problem, Get iPhone Browser, then click iPod_Control (i think) then you right click music, and choose save, then choose where to save to, make sure itunes is closed, (and ipod plugged in XD Duh) Make sure iTunes doesnt sync and then when its done saving your songs add them all to iTunes by choosing add folder, but due to Apples naming system you wont recognize the songs, but dont worry, they are all still working and most of them when added to iTunes the names will change, good luck and happy saving.

How do I transfer my iPhone contacts onto my eMac?

I have an eMac that I have ALL my information for my iPhone and everything on because my PC is always being edited and I don't trust it.
So I went to sync it one day on iTunes and under the info tab once click on the iPhone tab on the left, all the check-boxes where unchecked, so I checked them and then my contacts where ALL deleted and then in my address book they are all deleted.
So I lost almost 500 contacts, how do I sync the new ones I got? Everyone says there will be an option to 'merge' them, but that never appears and nothing appears to sync with address book, so please help me.. PLEASE.
