How to take a beautiful selfie..?!?

Q. I don't always love taking pictures of myself but sometimes I kind of get bored with the pictures I have on my phone... I just want to know how to take a good selfie that I'll be proud of! I want one like those pictures where the girl looks down and smiles?!?! Just any tips that will help me please?!?!

Answer
6 Tips on How to Rock a Selfie (and there are lots of photos)

Call it another trend in narcissism, or call it art, but the "selfie" has become a mainstay of our virtual identity. Celebrities do it. Our friends do it. And let's be real: We do it, too. The thing is, when you post a really obvious self portrait -- (your arm out looking all bug-eyed and duck-faced) you're going to look ridiculous.

Trust me, I've been there.

So how do we take great pictures of ourselves and get away with it? Here are the tips I've picked up along the path of 'selfie-discovery:'

1. You need a smartphone with a front and back camera. This is crucial, people -- not just for taking pictures, but for discrete glances at your teeth after eating something with spinach, cilantro, or parsley. (Believe you me, you do not want to be that girl who goes through an entire date with cilantro in her teeth and doesn't realize it until after the fact.)

2. Download a photo app that allows you to tweak contrast and lighting to varying degrees. If you want to rock the whole More Emo Than Thou thing, make sure you can apply different filters to it.

Instagram is great -- natch -- but it's a public sharing space, and the editing feature is kind of limited. I personally like Camera+ because it's cheap and easy to use. Snapseed is also really cool, but it's kinda pricy. ($4.99 -- expensive for a phone app, but worth it if you're into photography.)

3. Find good lighting. Smartphones can be kinda harsh when it comes to revealing every pore and every laugh-line. And unless the sun is filtering gently at an angle, and you're rocking a halo and frolicking in a meadow with unicorns, then sunlight is not your friend. So instead, find shade. Or take pictures on a cloudy day when the light is diffused. And whatever you do, remember this: Backlighting is friend to no one. Not even you.

4. Repeat after me: Do. Not. Duckface. You know that pose where you think you're being all cute, but you really look like a constipated aquatic bird? (Browse through US Weekly and you'll see these duckfaces everywhere -- Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie et al. -- guilty guilty guilty. I've done it, too:

Because for that split second when you're looking at yourself in the front facing camera, you think that's the way to go -- but it isn't. Instead, try something new: Like smiling! With teeth! (That don't have cilantro in them!)

5. Look natural -- or at least look like you're having a good time. In order to best avoid rocking the frozen smile thing, using a camera app with a timer can be helpful. (Camera+ has one -- which is another reason why I love the app.) But, if you aren't using a camera with a timer, that's ok, too. Just make sure you make ridiculously funny faces (including your duckface!) until you're ready to take the actual picture. And then, look at the little camera hole (NOT at your face on the screen) and smile. You can also look away from the camera and use another focal point like you're having a lively conversation with someone...

...Even though there's no one else around....

6. Find your best angle. I'm going to be real with you: Very few faces are perfectly symmetrical. Sure, models are the exception to the rule, but for us mere mortals, tilting our face at an angle (3/4ish) is a great way to go. And this is where your camera timer comes in handy because if you're holding your phone out and tilting your face and trying to push the camera button at the same time, it won't be pretty. Instead, prop your camera against something -- maybe a window, or your cup of coffee (or glass of vino), hit the timer button, show the world your best side, and smile, smile, smile.

Good photo editing apps?

Q. Help. I need a good one. Even if you have to pay for it. I have an iPhone 5.

Answer
There are tons of great photo apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Photo Editor - Snapseed is a comprehensive photo app that you'll wind up using every day. Photoshop mobile is another editor to consider. And Befunky is great too with the addition of more fun editing features.

Swap Photo Parts - With Juxtaposer you can take one part from one photograph and add that part into a second photo.

Panoramic Photos - Pano features the ability to take 360-degree panoramas using up to sixteen photos with a semi-transparent guide helps you line up each shot perfectly. With Pano's alignment tools, blending, and colour-correction algorithms provide you can really get seamless images in just seconds - I have been amazed.

Text on Photos - Photophrase blends beautiful typography with pictures to create unique images you can share. You can use Photophrase for photo captioning, photo sharing, and just plain photo fun.

Funny Faces - Faceship offers tons of face-changing effects! Besides the TinyFace, effects include a bubbleface, square head, nerd glasses (with enlarged eyeballs!), catface, the best moustache ever, some crazy mirror effects, horrible zits, sad face and happy faces, fat neck, and a bunch more. Another option is PhotoGoo which lets you turn your photos to Goo! Create funny facial expressions from your friends faces.

Un-crop - If you've ever taken a hasty photo on your phone and didn't leave enough room on the outside, AntiCrop is the app can uncrop those photos by filling in the edges with just a few swipes.

Good photo editing apps?

Q. I need some good editing apps , ones with good filters? Thanks !

Answer
Hello friend, there are several good photo editing apps. some of them are listed below.

1. Adobe Photoshop Express
Adobe Photoshop is a world renowned photo editing application for desktop computers and Mac, however for a number of years, the company have also had a mobile version to their software available to download for free on iPhone and iPad.

2. Instagram
Instagram is owned by Facebook and in recent times it has grown to over 90 million users. The Instagram app available to download for all iOS devices is not so much a photo editing app but more of a photo filter app and social network combined, as is the Instagram service.

3. Snapseed
Snapseed is perhaps the best photo editing app on this list. It is a very clever app that will automatically adjust your photo to create the very best final image. It features pinch to zoom effects and framing, and also allows you to create light leaks, as well as change saturation and brightness.

4. Aviary
Aviary is one of those apps that when downloaded you wonder how you ever got by without it. Aviary is a wonderful photo filter and editing app that merges the best of Photoshop Express and Snapseed.

5. BeFunky
Last on our list of the best photo editing apps is BeFunky, a neat application for iOS devices that has rave reviews on iTunes. Its appeal comes from its combination of Instagram and Flickr features, allowing users to easily share their photographs and apply filters.

is it possible to retrieve deleted photos from iphone?

Answer
You'll need to connect your phone to a PC using a USB cable (or take the memory card out and plug it into a card reader on the PC). You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.

Then download some good photo recovery software that provides a free demo with the ability to preview the files it finds left on the phone (or card).
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

can i recover pictures that i deleted from my iphone?

martiruli

Answer
First thing to note is that the deleted data on the phone will remain there until something new is saved and overwrites it. This might not happen immediately but eventually, after continued use, it will.
Either connect the phone straight to a PC using a USB cable (if supplied with the phone) or take the card out and put it in a card reader attached to the PC. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.

Then try some photo recovery software on the PC. This should recognise the phone or card and then you can scan it using the free download of some good photo recovery software. That will show you what files still exist on the phone or card and what can be recovered.

Should I buy an iPod touch 4g or Digital Camera?

EmoStyleGi

I want to buy a Digital Camera (which I have the money for) but then my friend told me to get an Ipod Touch 4G instead, I don't have all the money for it but she said that she and our other friends would chip in and she might see if my parents can chip in as well... I'm not sure though because I enjoy taking photos but an Ipod Touch has more features and a bit more entertainment.
so which do you think I should get? please give reasons for your answers if you can

Answer
well if i had a choice i would go for the ipod touch there are 100's of camera apps, there are apps like imovie, splice and reeldirector that allow you to edit videos on the device and upload them to youtube from the device, image browsing is nicely done and there great memory to store the photos, there are also loads of camera apps that are really good like aging booth that make you look old instalapse to make timetapse videos adobe photoshop express and 1000s of photo editors with so much choice and thats just the photo side of what the device can do

on the other side a digital camera is more likely to be a bit better quality but most likely wont be as user friendly as the ipod touch (id go for the ipod)

Best iPod touch 4G apps?

Q. So for Christmas, I'm getting an iPod Touch 4G, and I was wondering what are your favourite apps? They can be free or paid, I just want to know what are really good apps, and which ones you wouldn't recommend.

Get downloaded photos from iPhone/iPod touch back onto computer?

Dillon S

I have photos from my digital camera that I downloaded and put onto my iPod touch. However, my hard drive crashed a few days ago and while my backups have most of my pictures, if I were to sync my iPod with my computer over half of all my photos would be lost. Is there a fast and easy way to get these photos back onto my Mac, whether it would be through hosting them online or using a free transferring software?

Answer
Many iPhone users have asked this.
It won't be a problem if you use 3herosoft iPhone to Computer Transfer for Mac.
It automatically transfers your iPod and iPhone music, video, playlist, photos to Mac and iTunes. Backup all your music and video in a couple of clicks. Really makes music and videos sharing pretty simple and enjoyable. Wish this can help and good luck.

I think its step by step guide is most helpful.

It is easy to use and you can try it now.

how to snyc my iphone 3GS with 2 computers?

nina c

I have two computers, a mac book pro and an imac. my music is spaced out between the two. if i want to sync both the music onto my iphone how can i do that.

Answer
Here is an easy way I've used. That is to use this iPhone to Mac Transfer program http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/3herosoft-copy-songs-from-iphone-to-mac.html

It is an easy-to-use iPhone to Computer transfer software that can fast copy songs between iphone and mac and manage your music, videos, photos, podcasts and TV Shows between iPhone and Mac.
And you can use it to transfer all music and other files from your iPhone onto the iTunes in a direct way. This won't overwrite any original files on your iPhone. And all song names are preserved.

Give it a try. It will save you lots of time on this.

IPhone 5 homescreen dimensions?

Q. I am trying to make a background for my iPhone 5, but I need to know how far apart the apps are from each other (horizontally and vertically)

Answer
The iPhone 5 screen is 640 x 1136 pixels.

The icons are 114 x 114. The distances apart are not consistent, but they are about 38 vertically and 56 horizontally.

The easiest thing to do would be take a screenshot of the home screen and refer to that, load it in to photoshop or whatever. You can take a screenshot on your iphone by pressing the home button and power button at the same time. It saves to Photos, from there you can e-mail or sync it to your computer.

Or, here's a random screen i got from google:

Is it just a setting??

Answer
B4 u read this, plz forgive my TxT-Fonics in my answer, but I'm a 6'2" MONSTER, so my hands r huge n I need 2 shortn my words :-)

Hillo,

I don't have an iPhone; I have a BlkBry Bold; NOT a curve! Evry1 has a Curve now, but I personly think the Curve gives BlkBry a bad name cuz it's SO CHEAP in comparrisson! Thas not ur question, tho...

I don't have an iPhone so I can't give u DETAILED instructions on fixn ur phone, but I'd rly recommnd u call the Apple store nearest 2 u. If u don't alrdy kno where it is; go 2 yellowpages.com, n locate the closest Apple Store, n ask 2 talk 2 their "service dept." I think, THAS smarter 2 talk 2 a PROFESSIONAL in the Apple Store since these ppl deal w/these phones EVERY DAY, n I doubt sum Yahoo-Jerk HONESTLY knows more!

I had a BlkBry Curve 1ce b4; it drove me nuts how CHEAP it was, so I upgraded 2 the Bold n I absolutely LOVE it! HOWEVER, I think I'm guna have 2 get a DIFFERENT style of phone, n not jus the new BlkBry! I rly don't wana go w/an iPad, so I searched 2 find the BEST SMART PHONE IN 2012. I found the 1's on the top of the lists were these three: HTC One S; HTC One X, n the Samsung Galaxy. The other two most popular were the iPhone n the Droid, but like I said "I'm not goin w/an iPhone cuz I don't feel comfortable selling-out 2 Apple, n the Droid was SOOOOO hyped-up by evry1 about all of the COOL APPS it had, but ALL of my friends who got 1 jus complained about it still having A LOT of "Glitches!" Um, Motorola rly had a "Premature Edroidulation" when they released that phone so early bcuz it "wasn't ready 2 CUM out! :-D Releasing a phone b4 it's TRULY ready 2 cum out did them more harm than good... Sooooo, I'd personally go w/the HTC's or the Samsung Galaxy, but YOU might wana consider a BlkBry BOLD 4 ur next Glitch-Free phone. I've never complained bout this phone, n neither has my father who has had 1 since they came-out :-)

ANYWAYS, I saw u had received no answers 2 ur question so I thout I should b polite n at least SUGGESTION a way 2 get a solution since I ddnt have 1... :-) Take care, n good luck fixing ur phone!

-JTW

P.S. U might wana invest in an "Otter Box: DEFENDER" 4 ur phone, too! This case has saved MY phone sooooo many times, n the plastic cover over the keyboard n the screen is water-resistent, so if u spill coffee on ur phone, ur fine as long as u clean it off, n don't let it seep in thru the cracks over time...

IOS photo editor app?

Q. I wanted to try and do some editing on some photos with my iPhone. I found a bunch of apps, but they all seem solely oriented for Instagram. They all felt like they were meant to touch up your face, and add unnecessary tint effects. What I am looking for is something that can snap to the border of an object, and let you modify that. Am I asking for too much with this? I know that the whole touch screen thing makes it more difficult, but I can still hope.

Any worthy paid apps from Itunes?

Jeff

I got a free $10 gift card and was wondering what good apps can I download. NO GAMES!!!! please.

Answer
Hipstamatic ($1.99)
Thereâs a reason Apple chose Hipstamatic as the Best iPhone App of 2010: it creates some really interesting vintage-style images out of your digital photos. Instead of making crisp, clear and somewhat sterile digital images, Hipstamatic creates an old-style look by mixing and matching different effects. The app emulates an old Instamatic toy camera, allowing users to match âlenses,â âfilmâ and âflashesâ -- each alters the picture slightly to give you all kinds of customization options. Hipstamatic includes the ability to grab additional packs of flashes, film and lenses through in-app purchases as well, expanding your options. The pictures that come out of it look great, and using the app feels a lot like the experience of using a real camera, making it both a novelty and a great way to get the most out of iPhone photography.

Camera+ ($1.99)
Hipstamatic is nice, but itâs really only good for making your photos look old. And that leaves out a lot of other great effects that the iPhone camera is capable of producing. Enter Camera+, an app for dealing with âregularâ digital photos of the non-vintage variety. Youâll find a lot of filters and effects within Camera+, along with many features for making your photos better, like a stabilizer, a 6x zoom feature and the ability of using your iPhone 4âs flash as a continuous fill light. Just about everything you could need to execute some quality iPhone photography is on-hand in Camera+, making it an indispensable addition to your app lineup.

iMovie ($4.99)
Appleâs movie editing suite is a powerful tool for anyone interested in creating films and videos, putting all kinds of power to manipulate film in the palm of your hand. It makes manipulating film exceptionally easy -- tap to add a clip to your reel, then drag and hold to adjust its length, add transitions, drop in background music and any number of other additions and effects. Itâs kind of crazy just how much is possible with iMovie, and you donât need to be a film director or a tech wizard to make some really compelling videos.

TuneIn Radio Pro ($0.99)
TuneIn is like having a radio in your pocket at all times, but instead of just tuning in local stations, it can tune in radio stations from all over the country and the world. In fact, TuneIn Radio can access more than 40,000 radio stations from around the world, which you can search through using the appâs simple interface to bring them up by geography, genre or show. The app will even use an iPhoneâs GPS capabilities to tap into local radio stations. Awash with features and allowing its users to listen to just about anything they could ever want to, TuneIn Radio is the best radio app you can get on your iPhone.

Mobile Mouse Pro ($1.99)
Hereâs a simple premise: Mobile Mouse turns your iPhoneâs touch screen into a mouse touch pad. Itâs a great idea, it works pretty well, and using a Wi-Fi network, it gives you fairly elaborate control over your computer from anywhere in the area. Mobile Mouse requires a software download on your computer, but once youâve done that, the touch pad is almost as responsive as one hardwired to your computer. Mobile Mouse also brings up contextual controls for each program youâre using. People who hook computers up to bigger television monitors could find this app indispensable.

NewsRack ($4.99)
Reading things on the go is one of the best uses of the iPhone. NewsRack is an RSS feed aggregator that can sync with other services, like Google Reader, to streamline everything that you find interesting in one place. Itâs a cool system if you use a lot of RSS feeds, or if you like to keep up on breaking news. By subscribing to feeds from NewsRack, you get a constant flow of info, and the app lets you share articles with other people through Twitter and Facebook as well.

FlightTrack Pro ($9.99)
This is must-have travel app for anyone who flies frequently. With live flight status information, you'll be the first to know if your upcoming journey is going to be delayed and even at what gate your plane is waiting. By automatically importing your various flight itineries, they'll be updated in real time so you can always stay on top of your trip. FlightTrack also integrates nicely with the popular TripIt app and offers beautiful zoombable maps complete with weather radars. These maps are even available offline so you can view them when you're away from a connection or stuck at the gate. Push alerts keep you readily informed and the app will even help you find an alternative flight if necessary. Seriously, FlightTrack has it all and is a must for travelers everywhere.

Can a smartphone automatically re-size and re-date an old photo uploaded to it from an SD card?

Q. (I am asking this question again as last time I inadvertently changed its status to "resolved")

This is a crucial question for my peace of mind. Please answer with some detail as to your own experience. Thank you.

Can a 2011 HTC_Amaze_4G alter the "date and time taken" information on photos uploaded to it from an old Nokia from 2005? And change the EXIF data to HTC data for the day it was uploaded?

An old micro SD card with lots of old photos on it from the old phone was inserted into the HTC that day and left there for several hours. The owner of the phone claims that the HTC Amaze "took ownership" of the old photos and made them into HTC photos on the day they were uploaded and dated them that day, renaming, re-dating, and resizing them. On the other hand, the 2 photos that should be side by side show 3 hours difference between them in the time taken, as well as 12 digits missing between the number naming of the photos..

The owner of the phone said these are old photos taken with his old Nokia phone sometime starting 2005. That he started to upload photos that day from a little micro SD photo card that was in his phone. He said the card contained photos from his old Nokia that were then transferred to an old 2nd hand IPhone and then to his HTC_Amaze_4G, and that the Amaze changed the data. The SD card is now destroyed, so the data can't be verified that way.

Please note that this person is NOT tech savy, so would not have intentionally re-dated or re-sized the photos himself.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful answers.

Answer
Something sounds fishy.

Camera programs do NOT mess with the pictures unless you tell them to. Not even gallery programs. I am not familiar with HTC phones myself, but I doubt that any HTC app would actually rename all your photos, change all your EXIF tags, and so on.

And changing the EXIF data is beyond the capability of most computer neophytes.

What's more *likely* is he didn't physically take the card from the Nokia, but used some sort of transfer program and a cable to link the two. THAT may have caused the pictures to all take on the HTC app info. However, that seriously depends on the program doing the transfer, the revisions, the settings, and the exact models (not all stuff transfers completely). There are too many variables.

What's more, iPhones do NOT have microSD card slots. So he could NOT have transferred the pictures to iPhone that way.

If you have an iPhone, TimerCam is a really nice app.
Android phones don't have that many timer camera apps, but I think the best would be this app called Self Timer Camera. Hope I helped! :)

What editing app is this?

Q. I used to have this app where you could add overlays and stickers. They looked like candy shaped hearts and you can add words to it like "perf" and "how bout not" and I forgot what it was called

Answer
it is called 'Photo candy apps' which look like candy shaped hearts where you could add overlays and stickers.
Photo Candy App (Free) allows you to add patterns and shapes to your photos. You can add multiple layers and change filters and opacity with each layer. What is cool is that you can resize the patterns or shapes so itâs not static as other texture or shape apps.

Nokia Lumina 521??? 129$ Yay or Nay?

Q. Im thinking about getting this phone but I never used a windows phone .I heard it dosent have Apps like Android. No instagram :-( But how are nokia lumnia 521 apps ? I mailnly use music apps,.YouTube,.instagram , Google maps, and photo editing. I heard the camera does not have flash either:-( . I currently have the mytouch HTC mytouch that came out like 3 yrs ago .Would the lumnia be considered a downgrade or a upgrade compared to my phone

Answer
Hi Maya,

I'd definitely recommend the Nokia Lumia 521 4G.

It has Facebook, Twitter, Xbox, Office and Skype built in. The home screen makes it really easy to organise your favourite people, apps and information. It has a large 4" screen, 8GB of storage with expandable memory and a really durable polycarbonate build material.

Windows Phone does not have as many apps as available on Android.
There is no official Instagram app, but there are free and paid third-party Instagram apps available - like Itsdagram (http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/itsdagram/ef18d20f-0ce9-426c-ad6a-04f42157bb19)
The phone has Nokia Music for completely free and unlimited music mixes - no ads, no login, no subscription. You can even download up to four music mixes to listen to offline; just choose your favourite artists and genres. Apps like Pandora, Spotify, VEVO, last.fm and YouTube are available from Windows Phone Store.
The phone has Nokia's HERE Maps and HERE Drive - for completely free, voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation that can be worked completely offline. Unofficial 'Google Maps' apps (like gMaps) are also available from Windows Phone Store.
Photo editing apps like Nokia Creative Studio, fotor are available from Windows Phone Store.

The camera does not have a flash, but it does have a 5MP resolution.

Hope this helps!

Citrify, iPiccy, PicMonkey, Ribbet, Picadilo, Fotor, FotoFlexer or Lunapic are great all round web based and FREE editing tools. Adobe, makers of the expensive Photoshop, has a free website version in Photoshop Express. If you are a former Picnik user than Picmonkey and Ribbet will be your best choices.

Since you say APP, you might also mean an iPhone or iPad.
