Answer
Citrify, iPiccy, FotoFlexer or Lunapic are great all round web based and FREE editing tools. Adobe, makers of the expensive Photoshop, has a free website version in Photoshop Express. If you need/want more features downloading GIMP is a great options. Still free, but you have to download the software. There are also free tools to add text blurbs, to make collages, to put your photo into other images. There are a number of tools that allow you to put the image of a face into other photos for some fun creations.

any cool fun iphone apps?

Omar

Answer
Hmmm... Angry Birds and Ludo are fun. If you like taking photos, I'd check out Blux Camera... it's a new one I just downloaded a few days ago. It improves the resolution of your camera, so the pictures are really clear. It's similar to instagram in that there are different filters, some of which are retro. However, it's a smart camera... which means it tells me how to compensate for dim lighting, the weather, etc. If I set it on auto, it automatically adjusts to fit the environment... cool, huh? It also lets me apply all the effects before I take the photo, so that when I take it I know exactly what I'm getting. So, I've had much better results with Blux Camera than other programs like Instagram... and it's saved me a lot of time on photo editing. It also lets me directly share to Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'd recommend giving it a try... it's a fun way to pass some free time...

Don't listen to people who dont know a thing about how operating system works and what is computer programing.

iPad is perfect for students.

Student needs

1.Good organizer
2.Aler/Alarm
3.Social network
4.Edit/create/share document
5.Edit/Create Spreadsheet
6.Powerpoint Presentation
7.Photo Editing/Music composing

And of course some fun like gaming, chatting, photo sharing, online movies, music, free online TV shows etc.

iPad has top notch organizer which runs at the background so even iPad is in sleep mode , it will alert you give info about remaining tasks.

FaceBook, Twitter, other social network runs smoothly and all of them have push notification which means , whenever you get any message even if you not using the iPad, you will get the message.

iWork on iPad is much better than MS-Office on any laptop as long as your work is not super high profile for which you need software solution like SAP Business Object Xcelsius and Crystal Reports.
Even if you have never put complicated formulas using Excel, you can do it easily on iPad because its so simple and amazingly user friendly. Creating powerpoint presentation is piece of cake on it.

There are app for photo editing that professionals will using.

Many universities and schools will be uploading text books into iBooks store where student can read and then using iWork , do the homework or assignment then upload to dropbox or iwork.com to submit the project.
iPad will revolutionize the way student study. Think about it you will always be powered by Hundred of books with internet power and built in dictionary and a top of line MS office editor.

Hundreds of websites have recoded their video content into HTML 5 so you can watch thousands of videos online for free including latest full length movies and TV shows. You still can watch TV shows and movies on iPhone.

a few questions about the samsung/tmobile behold?

Soundwave

hey guys ive got a few questions on the samsung/tmobile behold...

1. can it store video and play them back? and if so what format?

2. can you watch videos on youtube? and if so, what type of format is it? such as the itouch/iphone format of watching videos.

3. how many contacts can you have on the aim instant messenger.

4. is it easy to type and get use to on aim instant messenger?

i think that is it for now. and all help is appreciated thanks.
edit: also, does the camera have a macro feature?

Answer
The Price: $150 after the standard rebate and two-year contract

The Verdict: The Behold fills the hole in T-Mobile's lineup for a not-quite-smart feature phone: It does a lot of the stuff a smartphone will do, like web browsing and email, just you know, not quite as capably as a real smartphone, or even as well as its cousin, the Instinct (even before it got better with its most recent round of updates). The web browser is bleh for anything but mobile sites since T-Mobile does you the favor of translating pages, which tends to butcher more complicated ones, and the email client won't do standard IMAP or POP. The IM client is slow, though not terrible, but either way, you can't really install your own apps to rectify the situation.

So what's good? The touchscreen is one more of the responsive ones that Samsung has put out, a hair better than the Instinct, and the keyboard layout is pretty good too, though I wish the space bar was bigger. The TouchWiz UI is attractive and easy to use, even if it's only skin deepâonce you go past the widget-y "desktop," you're dumped into a more generic, though not exactly ugly, cellphone UI.

The 5MP camera, though not miraculous, is better than most of the ones in these kinds of phones by a long shot, with satisfactory noise levels and a decent suite of basic photo editing that'll let you adjust fundamentals like contrast and color, crop or add crazy effects. I wish the flash were a little stronger and the autofocus were a little faster, though.

Overall, it's what you'd expect out of a feature phoneâit'll do a lot of things, just none of them amazingly. If you're a T-Mobile customer, for the money, I'd go with a G1âit lacks polish in some places, and the hardware isn't nearly as tight as the Behold's, but you'll get more out of it.

The Samsung Behold reminds us quite a bit of the Samsung Instinct. It's not quite smart enough to be an iPhone clone, but it's still a good phone in its own right. In fact, in terms of call quality and calling features, it's a great phone. But Samsung still hasn't nailed the touchscreen interface. In some areas, like the QWERTY keyboard, they've done a great job, and it works well. In others, like the home page widgets and the problems we had with scrolling and moving through lists, the problems make using the phone a real chore. The phone has a very nice music player, but lacks a standard headphone jack, which seriously hobbles its potential. It uses fast networking on T-Mobile's new 3G network, but the Web browser lacks the deeper options needed to unleash its full potential. It's a flawed device, but not fatally flawed, and hopefully Samsung will work out most of these TouchWiz UI kinks as more of these phones come to market. Release: November 2008. Price: $200.
Pros: Responsive screen. Great call quality and calling features. Fine music player.
Cons: Scrolling issues hurt using the interface. Widgets might not work at this size. Web browsing and video player both mediocre

Design - Good

The Samsung Behold is the first phone on the U.S. market to follow up on Samsung's promise for more TouchWiz phones. We saw a version of this UI on the Samsung Omnia that we previewed back in July, though that phone ran Windows Mobile, while this is a more of a standard multimedia not-as-smartphone. It's an all-touch phone, with only Send, End and Back buttons on the face. A lock button on the side locks the screen and keeps the phone from making calls in your pocket. We like the hardware lock button, it's a bit more convenient than a finger swipe (though not as chic).

The most important thing we ask for on an all-touch phone is a responsive interface, and for the most part the Samsung Behold delivers. We had some trouble with the way TouchWiz is designed, but no trouble with the screen registering our taps and s

What's the best photo editing apps for the iPhone?

I've been searching and downloading apps and they're all corny and never do what they say they'll do. I'm looking for a mirror effect app that's simple and free. Please any suggestions will be great!

Answer
There are tons of great photo apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Photo Editor - Snapseed is a comprehensive photo app that you'll wind up using every day. Photoshop mobile is another editor to consider. And Befunky is great too with the addition of more fun editing features.

Swap Photo Parts - With Juxtaposer you can take one part from one photograph and add that part into a second photo. With FACE SWITCH you can do just that, switch faces between multiple photos.

Panoramic Photos - Pano features the ability to take 360-degree panoramas using up to sixteen photos with a semi-transparent guide helps you line up each shot perfectly. With Pano's alignment tools, blending, and colour-correction algorithms provide you can really get seamless images in just seconds - I have been amazed.

Text on Photos - Photophrase blends beautiful typography with pictures to create unique images you can share. You can use Photophrase for photo captioning, photo sharing, and just plain photo fun.

Funny Faces - Faceship offers tons of face-changing effects! Besides the TinyFace, effects include a bubbleface, square head, nerd glasses (with enlarged eyeballs!), catface, the best moustache ever, some crazy mirror effects, horrible zits, sad face and happy faces, fat neck, and a bunch more. Another option is PhotoGoo which lets you turn your photos to Goo! Create funny facial expressions from your friends faces.

Un-crop - If you've ever taken a hasty photo on your phone and didn't leave enough room on the outside, AntiCrop is the app can uncrop those photos by filling in the edges with just a few swipes.

Is it smart to buy an iPhone 4 now?

Femke

I'm considering buying an iPhone 4, because the price is reasonable now. However, I wonder if the apps that I've just downloaded with iTunes will work, and if the software of the iPhone 4 is not too old for the new apps to work.

Thanks for your answer.

Answer
Reasons Not To Buy

It's still just an iPhone. This is a nice piece of hardware, no doubt. But it won't do that much more than your iPhone 3GS, which will be capable of multitasking, can shoot decent photos and videos, has the same maximum storage options, and operates at the same network speeds. Unless the new camera and flash, screen res and video chatâwhich is Wi-Fi only, and connects exclusively to other iPhone 4s for nowâare things you absolutely need, this is a non-essential upgrade. Apple is the king of incremental upgrade and iPhone 4 is no exception.

Answer
Photographs can be taken from any camera, it's just the editing which the person has done in the list of links you have provided. You can edit in Adobe Photoshop and use Actions on them. Or alternatively you can use some apps for editing in your phone:

snapseed
pixable
pixlr
Befunky photo editor

If you want a free software to edit photographs then go for Gimp, it's a great piece and is free.

I understand "vintage-y", but what is "tumblr like"????
There is such a huge assorment of ..... ummm..... of...... "stuff" on tumblr, there is NO telling what you're talking about.

One of the current fads is wanting to go back to a retro/vintage look.
I just used the search box here on YA and came up with tons of answers - this is a VERY common question http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt=AjPUUnHKjO7AOTd3hb8UY8UjzKIX?fr=uh3_answers_vert_gs&type=2button&p=photo%20retro%20vintage

There are plenty of websites with ready made click-of-a-button functions, they make it very simple to understand for anybody at all. Or if you feel up to a bit of a challenge, you could spend the time to learn how to do it properly, either from scratch or with the help of a plug-in and/or action. Quite often, it is simply a case of lowering saturation and contrast to give it that slightly hazy "vintage" look.

First of all, consider the advantages of resident programs over using websites.
Keep in mind that you only have to install a program once, yet if you use a website, you have to first upload each and every photo, work it, then download each one again. MUCH more up and downloading in the long run, and when your internet is down, you have nothing. If you only want to edit a few photos, websites are ok, but if you have more, then resident programs are much better.
Don't expect instant perfection - depending on what you want to do and how GOOD you need it to look, it can take years to acquire those skills.

The best programs are Adobe Photoshop (expensive, but it IS the king), or its smaller cousin, Photoshop Elements (way cheaper and still very good!).

If the program HAS to be free, here are some good choices:

The Gimp. It is very good, especially for the "price". http://www.gimp.org/
Paint.net - not to be confused with Microsoft's "Paint" program! http://www.paint.net/
Photoscape - can't do everything, but quite adequate for the average user:

If you insist on a free website:
http://www.picture2life.com/ or http://fotoflexer.com/.
If you want something more capable, try http://pixlr.com/ or http://www.sumopaint.com/web/

I need help on my Photo booth for my Mac!?

kelly

I'm wondering why I don't have the top section in photo booth. As in, I don't have the Edit, View, Window, and Help bar on top.

This is a picture of mine: http://tinypic.com/r/2q19ixh/7

This is a picture I found online and it's suppose to look like this: http://tinypic.com/r/w495d/7

I want to be able to flip the photo but I don't have the edit bar. How do I get the upper bar? HELP FAST.
Okay, I got it now. Sorry, I'm noob. )-:

Answer
Try again, if Photo Booth is open close the app. Give it a second or two to close down and reopen. DO NOT click anywhere else and wait for it to come up and than check the top of the screen. It sounds as though you clicked off the app, as in clicked on the desktop, when it came up and doing so changes to the primary desktop view. (Clicking out of an app will change the view regardless)

Glad you got it...and we are all noobs at any given point in time :-)

Also here is a tip for you...if you set your trackpad up for use of a four finger swipe (left to right or right to left) all apps running will show. To switch between them use the arrow keys to choose the app you want up and press enter, that will switch from one app to another.
