What is WeChat and is it really popular around the world?

YD

I heard this app from my mom and also saw some like shook it to look for friends. And I just wonder if it's better than Skype, what the features it has and is it a big amount of users for it?

Answer
WeChat (Chinese: 微信; pinyin: WÄixìn; literally "micro message") is a mobile text and voice messaging communication service developed by Tencent in China, first released in January 2011.[7] The app is available on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and Symbian platforms. Languages supported include traditional/simplified Chinese, English, Indonesian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Malay, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi and Russian. WeChat is supported on Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, and 4G data networks.

WeChat provides multimedia communication with text messaging, hold-to-talk voice messaging, broadcast (one-to-many) messaging, photo/video sharing, location sharing, and contact information exchange. WeChat supports social networking[8] via shared streaming content feeds and location-based social plug-ins ("Shake", "Look Around", and "Drift Bottle") to chat with and connect with local and international WeChat users.[9]

Photos can be taken and embellished with artistic filters, captions, and placed into a personal photo journal for sharing with other users. User data is protected via an on-demand contact list backup and retrieval to/from the cloud. WeChat claims to provide a social networking platform that emphasizes user privacy and fast response performance.[citation needed]

Registration is completed through Facebook Connect, mobile phone SMS/VM, or Tencent QQ. The application was initially launched as Weixin in China in January 2011, with international language support in October 2011, and re-branded as WeChat in April 2012. It is being promoted in India via gaming site Ibibo, in which Tencent holds a stake.[10]

The app is available in the App Store for iTunes, Google Play Store for Android, BlackBerry App World and Marketplace for Windows Phone.

What is a good photo editing app for the iPhone?

Gen

I like editing pictures and I post them on Instagram but I need a really good one for adding text to pictures.

Here is all the stuff that I would like in a app:
1)no watermarks
2)to be able to move the words around freely
3) to be able to make each word a different color/size/font
4) to be able to work with one word and then move on to the next

The app does NOT have to be free but if I do have to pay for it I want it to be worth it. I have already tried a few apps out but they don't let me do want I want to do.
Thanks!

Answer
There are tons of great photo apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Photo Editor - Snapseed is a comprehensive photo app that you'll wind up using every day. Photoshop mobile is another editor to consider. And Befunky is great too with the addition of more fun editing features.

Swap Photo Parts - With Juxtaposer you can take one part from one photograph and add that part into a second photo. With FACE SWITCH you can do just that, switch faces between multiple photos.

Panoramic Photos - Pano features the ability to take 360-degree panoramas using up to sixteen photos with a semi-transparent guide helps you line up each shot perfectly. With Pano's alignment tools, blending, and colour-correction algorithms provide you can really get seamless images in just seconds - I have been amazed.

Text on Photos - Photophrase blends beautiful typography with pictures to create unique images you can share. You can use Photophrase for photo captioning, photo sharing, and just plain photo fun.

Funny Faces - Faceship offers tons of face-changing effects! Besides the TinyFace, effects include a bubbleface, square head, nerd glasses (with enlarged eyeballs!), catface, the best moustache ever, some crazy mirror effects, horrible zits, sad face and happy faces, fat neck, and a bunch more. Another option is PhotoGoo which lets you turn your photos to Goo! Create funny facial expressions from your friends faces.

Un-crop - If you've ever taken a hasty photo on your phone and didn't leave enough room on the outside, AntiCrop is the app can uncrop those photos by filling in the edges with just a few swipes.

I was trying to do some edits, one direction in particular, but I was wondering what are some good apps to use for them? Not like ones that take away glare and change the lighting etc., but like collages and sorta hipster stuff like where you can add little things and do a collage and add words and edit it and cut around the pic and stuff? Thanks!

Answer
there are number of good apps to make edits for instagram. they are listed below,

How much can 16GB hold?

Isabel

I lost my iPhone and I'm planning on getting a new one soon. I know that Apple is only making 16GB for the iPhone 4S now, so I would like to know if it can hold enough? On my previous iPhone 4 I had about 2,000 photos, 500 songs and around 10 apps. However it was a 32GB. If I get the iPhone 4S will it hold:

At least 1500 photos
15 apps including Pandora, Instagram, other photo editing apps and games?

--I don't plan on having music because I use Pandora anyways.

Answer
There is no telling, because Apple has never released the data to tell you how much is used by the operating system. I have a Android tablet PC, with 8GB internal memory. (I disabled the cell phone part since I do not have a cell phone) The OS uses about 3 GB so there are 5 GB remaining for my stuff. I can add a memory card to add as much as 64GB. I currently have a 32 GB card installed with several videos, and a huge number of MP3 files and even MORE epub ebooks. YMMV...

How much does a mac cost?

Ok, so I want to buy a Mac computer... I love all the application things you can use and I think it's a great computer. It would help SO much if you could list the different kinds of Mac computers and the prices. emphasis on the cheapest but still has Also of the cool features like photo booth and garage band. That would be so much help! Thanks!
10 points for best answer! :)

Answer
Brand new, they cost a minimum of at least $1,000 for a simple computer that doesn't do much or have a lot of software. Right now, most of what you're paying for is a brand name. I don't know what the iCloud and the Lion OS will do when they come out, but so far, the only Apple devices worth their price are the iPads, iPhones and iPods.

is it bad to use iphone apps to edit pictures?

I use vsco cam to add filters to my iphone photography. Is that bad? I have an assignment to turn into for yearbook class and it's about "telling a story" through 10 photos. I like using vsco cam to enhance my photos a little more. Can I do that or will it not be considered "photography"?

Answer
Not at all, but the results will be very primitive and will soon become cliché as more and more people use cookie cutter apps

Most instructors have at least one computer with Photoshop installed and that is what makes truly unique retouched images.

Do NOT get too carried away.with too much artsy stuff, but I am sure your instructor will help you modulate your shots

Remember that your goal is to tell a story, NOT spend a lot of time using apps to cover up any of the images that are not your best effort

If you have one, give me all the details :) and if you dont have one, still comment because im sure by now you have heard of at least one cool app! :D thanks so much! Happy Holidays!

Answer
hey, josh here,
my top free apps would have to be:
facebook - this is very useful so that you can keep in contact with your friends
Remote - with this app you can control itunes on your computer from anywhere within your wifi zone. (there are many of these apps, some are free and some are paid... i have 4, remote, VLC Remote, iRemote, Snatch... each do different things)
TV Guide - find out whats on what channel
Ebay - keep track of any sales or bid you want to make
Dactyl - this is a fun game, the aim of it is to stop the bombs from blowing up

Top Paid apps would be:
Video safe - with this app you can store videos and apps that you dont want people to see... it has a feature called "snoop stopper" when enabled, if someone try's to get into your safe but types the code wrong 3 times it takes them to a default page where there are a few meaningless photos. (£2.39)

Colour Splash - this app allows you to allows you to quickly and easily edit photos (£1.19)

Call of Duty Zombies - this is a really fun game that Activision released due to its popularity on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC... this game is a lot of fun and i have spent many hours playing it (£5.99)

All EA games - all of the EA games released have been made to very high standards there are many popular titles such as Fifa 10, Madden NFL, The Sims 3, Monopoly... the list goes on and on) (ranges from £1.19 - £5.99)

My favorite app would have to be Facebook just because it is so convenient i use it all the time... it is so easy to use and best of all, its free :)

If you want to look at any of the apps you can check them out on the app store... you will find this on itunes or when you get your ipod you will be able to do it straight from there

have fun with your new ipod...
Merry Christmas

How can I get 200+ more followers on instagram?

A

I currently have about 350 followers and I would like to become instafamous with like 30k followers. What is a good way to achieve that in a short time period? btw my username is @amanda_plzzz so follow me (: thanks lovelies!

Answer
Best ways to gain followers. 10 tips.

1. Use hashtags. Google the top hashtags and copy/paste them on your pictures. You can only do 30 at a time though.

2. Like/Comment on other photos. Other people are more likely to check out your photos once you check theirs out. Also, when you like multiple pictures of a user, they see your username pop up repeatedly on their screen and are more likely to go to your profile.

3. Always reply to other people's comments. If someone says "Nice Photo!!" on one of your pictures, always respond by thanking them. Users are more likely to follow someone they feel they can interract with.

4. Make your account public. People will want to see your photos before they follow you.

5. Post good photos. Nobody wants to see boring photos. Post fun, beautiful, clean, and exciting photos!

6. Use editing apps. Snapseed, Vscocam, Picstitch, and afterlight are great apps to use. These apps are better than the instagram filters.

7. If you must, buy followers. But it shouldn't matter that much.

8. Post regularly, but not too frequently. Once or maybe twice a day is perfect.

9. Realize what time you post your pictures. People aren't going to see your photos at 3am. Now 10am right after people wake up? That's good. Or 6pm right after people get off work? That's great too!

10. Connect your account to facebook. That way your facebook friends will see your instagram account and follow you.

Hope it helps!

What is a good laptop for picture editing?

Jorge

My parents bought me a Nikon d3100 for my birthday. I take LOADS of pictures with it.
I'm still an amateur photographer though. lol
I want to know what laptop is great for picture editing running Photoshop (Cs6) as well as other
photo editing software. Next year I plan to attend an art school and major in photography
but I want to be all prepared.
Thanks.

Answer
FYI: Photoshop CS 6 ranges from $ 700, up to over $ 2000. You, as an amateur photographer, need to learn the basics of photo-editing before you even think about paying that much for a Professional Editing Application.

Start with MS-Paint, built-in to Windows, then, after you master MS-Paint, move up to PaintDOTnet, free from:

Then, after you master PaintDOTnet, try the GIMP (free), or buy Photoshop Elements 11, for about $ 99, it does 90% of what PS CS 6 does. When you need PS CS 6 in school, the school will provide you with it for FREE while in school. You won't have to BUY PS CS 6 until you graduate, and only if you need it.

To answer your question, any modern laptop that can play streaming videos (like on YouTube) can run virtually all photo-editing Apps.

I like to listEn to music, but I havE an iPod touch. I am a tech junkie, and I like to use phones to their full capibility. I plan to root the android phone. I have verizon, and my upgrade isn't until November. If I upgrade to an iPhone it will be the 5. What should I do? If u think android, what android should I buy?

Answer
ANDROID!!! if you get an icrap you'll regret it, if you get an android you can do all sorts of things with it such as: make apps for it,install roms, save over a thousand files on it if the one you get has a SD card (i.e. music, photos, apps, etc.) did i mention that android has a feature called app2sd which lets you put most apps on the SD card, for example if you download an application that is, say 18 Mb if you put it on the SD card then the space that it takes would decrease to about usually less than 2 Mb the rest of the memory is on the SD card, also unlike the apple app store they give you a refund within the first 15 min. once you purchase an app.You can also download apps from the internet or even downloaded app stores(there are some apps stores that you can get paid apps on the market for free) There is also this thing called "rooting" that will let you completely customize your android (i.e. change CPU speeds, surface dithering,vm heap size, resolution, and loads more. Also unlike the icrap you can add widgets to your home screen.I've heard that the newer icraps have battery drains, signal loss problems(there's an app on the market that simulates the icrap4's signal loss problem XD)and many other types of bugs and glitches. Now get out there and buy an Android (-=

What should I buy with my christmas money?

Beau Lawso

I've got £200 maybe rising to £250 because I have 4 more things to get, I was thinking of getting a 3DS, my sister got one for Christmas and it is amazing. I've got a 2nd hand iPhone from my dad and I have an Xbox 360, with modern warfare and FIFA and don't want any more games. But what else is out there to get, as I've mentioned, a 3DS is on my mind

Answer
You should get the 3DS.

Because you can play music (even with the system close).

You can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you're the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And you can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

And the Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D Music videos from today's American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D "Blue Man Group" video and College Humor (in 3D) with the FREE "Nintendo Video" App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and you can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has FREE downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS's Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS's Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it's all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and It has beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses.

So you can pay $169 for a Nintendo 3DS and buy the greatest Games ever & all in 3D Without the Glasses like Petz Fantasy 3D and Cooking Mama 4 and Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove 3D and Nintendogs + cats and Zoo Resort and Cave Story 3D and Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real steering wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Crush 3D and Shinobi and Animal Crossing and Rodea the Sky Soldier and Michael Jackson: the Experience 3D and Ridge Racer 3D and Super Street Fighter 4 3D and Monster Hunter 4 and Golden Sun 4 and Star Fox 3D and Zelda 3D and Sonic Generations 3D and Tetris 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations and Tekken 3D which also has the 3D Movie Tekken the Movie 3D in it to watch and also play other 8 GB 3D HD games as Spider Man 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses.

And the 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV.

And they're making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game.

And the 3DS has DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game later on for Free.

And 1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix.

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months, so for $169 you can watch 3D movies on the free Netflix App on the 3DS in 3D Without the Glasses.

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 to 2 weeks of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop.

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week.

And you can now pay to download 3D & 2D Videos on the 3DS.

And the 3DS is getting Hulu Plus before the end of this year (2011) as a Free downloadable App and Hulu already has 3D Content.

and you can check this Link below for more 3DS Games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

P.S. You will want to check these sites out for the Web Browser's 3D ability:

http://www.3ds-screenshot.com/

http://gamecrunch.co/3dscreens/

http://3dporch.com/

http://3dspaint.com/

http://www.klutz.com/static/nintendo/n3ds_mm9.html

http://www.instructables.com/3ds/

And the 3DS with a Wi-Fi Update can RECORD 3D Videos in 60 fps.

Answer
Hi! I am an experienced iPhoneographer (featured in Mashable, CNN, Sky News, and the NY Times), and here are some of my favourite iPhoneography applications to use:

1. Instagram: this is an amazing FREE iPhone photo-filtering and photo-sharing app, where you can take a picture within the app, add one of a number of great-looking "vintage-y" filters (including an inbuilt "tilt-shift" blur effect you can add before any of the other colour filters), and then share the photo with your "followers" within the application. It is like a photo-sharing twitter, where you can follow other interesting users and have them follow you back. The quality of the iPhone photos shared within Instagram is surprisingly high and the community feel really makes it a great application where you can get useful feedback about your photos. It's often number one in the Free iPhone Photography apps on the App store. You can "like" photos and people can "like" your photos, it can get very addictive! My IG username is @streetstylish, and I recommend the following ten users as having consistently excellent iPhoneography photostreams on Instagram: @fashion @takinyerphoto @sionfullana @anton_in_nyc @eros_sana @thomas_k @neriad @bondavidsf @xxxyxyz @dutchie68

2. Hipstamatic: this app allows you to very easily take a (square format) iPhone photograph and instantly applies a filtered look based on the "Lens" and "Film" that you choose. It comes with a few "Lenses" and "Films" packaged with the initial download, and you can also buy more later if you want to experiment more. It is very slickly designed and easy to use. You can't change your Lens or Film choice at a later date if you decide you want to experiment, but the effects are very high quality and accurately replicate some vintage films and lenses for the iPhone. It currently costs £1.49 in the UK App store.

3. Camera+ (by tap tap tap, NOT the other one in the app store): £0.69 in the UK app store right now, and I highly recommend it both for taking photos instead of the native Apple camera app and for editing pictures. You can take a "normal" photo from your camera roll, import it to the Lightbox in Camera+, and add a variety of effects and frames to your photo and then easily save it back to your camera roll or share it on Facebook. You can use it to crop your photos and add different colour effects. Their "Clarity" filter is really great for a lot of photos, and adds a pseudo-HDR effect, making all of the areas of your photo look more evenly exposed.

Other great apps:

Free ones -- Adobe Photoshop (great for basic editing, like color saturation etc), Photosynth (interactive panorama capture and sharing developed by Microsoft), Color Splash Free (you can use this to make your photo black and white while keeping certain areas of the picture in colour), Old Photo (use this to give your photos a real 'retro' feel)

Paid ones -- Camera Genius (camera and editing app), Filterstorm (really advanced editing similar to photoshop), Diptic (for creating collages of different photos), PictureShow (great for editing photos into really vintage styles using different filters and frames, you will love this one!), Photo fx (great, intuitive photo editing application), Picfx (you can add lots of texture, noise, and filters to your photos with this one! Great app!)

Good luck and happy snapping!

iphone 3gs, worth spending the extra 100 for the 32gb over the 16gb?

yeeeeeeeee

i can live wiht 16gb, its enough for my music, photo s and apps.

though i prob will eeventually exceed 16gb due to app downloads and possiably movies

but is it really worth spending the extra 100 dollars for the extra 16gb (total 32gb)

i assume i will ahve the iphone for 2 years max before im tempted to buy the latest and greatest again
thanks

btw folks, black or white iphone 3gs?

thanks

Answer
i have a black one that broke but im getting it replaced asap for free since its under my apple care plan :(

but for me i could never imagine actually reaching over 16 gigs of memory even with my pages of apps and songs. if your thinking about getting movies in it then yah go for the 32 otherwise stick with the 16 but if you really feel paranoid that 16 isn't enough then just get that 32 if that extra hundered bucks doesn't mean much to you.

as for white and black, i chose black because it honestly looked better but if i could chose again i'd get white since my black one got hot easily under the sun since i live in the desert not literally "desert though".

Why did they make WINDOWS 8 into a complete NIGHTMARE!!??!?

DeutscheMa

This has got to be the worst product I have ever paid for.

In terms of wasted time, hunting down crap, and dealing with stupidity, there is fundamentally NO difference between Windows 8 and downloading a really really really bad VIRUS.

I don't know where to begin, from the lame and horrible attempts of trying to make it mimic a stupid iPhone or the removal of the Got Danm start button which now makes every function a major task of hunting things down.

If that wasn't bad enough, it comes with like 30 different company spam programs all over the desktop that I have to sit here and delete off. This version of windows is set up as if people's only use of computers is to play with pictures, watch movies and sit on facebook all day. NOTHING is set up to be useful.

Whomever came up with the Windows 8 should be fired, and banned from ever programming AGAIN.

Now I have to go put Windows 7 on my computer, there is NO way in heII I am going to use this junk.

Answer
They hid a lot of things they shouldn't have on the start screen. For example, it's not obvious how you get a list of all program from the start screen. If you right click while on the start screen you'll find a button to take you the all programs list. This is really something that should be on the start screen at all times.

According to their own research, fewer people every release are not using the start menu. So they saw it as an opportunity to try something different. Thing is, they don't teach people how to use it. There is this one very lame instruction about how to open the charms bar then they toss you in and expect you to figure the rest out.

The program installed by the manufacturer are not Microsoft's fault so can't blame them for that. Be pissed off at the manufacturer since it was their idea.

Install one of the free start menus so you don't have to spend money on a new OS. The best are paid for, like Start8 and StartIsBack. Classic Shell is free as are many others. Here's a link to the list.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/708472-list-start-menu-replacements-windows-8-a.html

Each has options to let you boot directly into the desktop so you'll never even have to see the start screen again and can disable the hot corners, charms bar, and switcher. I recommend changing your default programs so that video, pictures, and PDF files open in desktop program instead of start screen apps.

Winkey + X opens the quick access menu. It can also be opened by putting your pointer in the bottom left corner of the screen and right clicking. Click Control Panel. Type "default programs" in the search box. Click the set your default programs link. You'll see a list of programs. Click on Windows Media Player to highlight it then click the set this program as default button. Do the same for Windows Photo Viewer. Install a PDF reader like Adobe Reader and set it as the default as well.

Now you won't be kicked to the video, music, or reader apps.

Windows 8 comes with multi-touch gestures but, once again, these are never covered in a tutorial or anything so new users find that Windows 8 seems to do things at random. Here's a article about those.

http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-8-tip-use-trackpad-multi-touch-gestures

You'll want to disable app switching right away.

Winkey + I â Change PC settings â General â turn off "When I swipe from the left edge, switch directly to my most recent app."

Now you won't seem to switch apps at random anymore.

Once you get everything customized you'll basically have a faster booting version of Windows 7.

What is the best type/touch-and-type phone in the market as of Dec 2012?

photography iphone 4 apps on Test iPhone 4 | Ubergizmo FR
photography iphone 4 apps image

Enchantres

It's Christmas time and my father and I decided to gift my mother a beautiful new smartphone. Since my mother basically uses her phone for calling, messaging and music (a lot of music)...and maybe even a little bit of photography (though not a lot), we were looking for a mobile phone that excels in these areas. Another very important requirement is that the phone must have a QWERTY keypad - for my mother does not like touch phones. However, a touch AND type phone is acceptable.

Our current contestants include BlackBerry, Samsung, Nokia and HTC. However, my father has an HTC phone that discharges in a matter of two days. So, we were a little unsure about it. iPhone is out of the contest because it doesn't produce phones with keyboards - to my knowledge.

As for costs, I don't really have a specific range. But it better be below the cost of an iPhone (which is about a 1000 USD here in the Philippines). I would say between USD 240 to 600. But it's not set in stone - the quality and the features of the phone are more important and the range can be extended if necessary.

Answer
The best: Samsung Captivate Glide It's a lot like the popular Samsung Galaxy S II (4.5 stars, $199.99), with the addition of a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a slight bump down in specs. It's our Editors' Choice for keyboarded smartphones on AT&T.

Physical Features, Phone Calls, and Internet
The Captivate Glide measures 4.9 by 2.5 by 0.5 inches (HWD) and weighs 5.2 ounces. Made out of lightly textured black plastic, the Glide looks unassuming, but feels well built and comfortable in your hand.

View all 6 photos in gallery

The 4-inch, 800-by-480-pixel Super AMOLED display is gorgeous. It has fewer subpixels than the Super AMOLED Plus display on the Galaxy S II, but it still looks excellent. The screen can get very bright, but darker colors maintain a luxurious depth and richness. Four haptic feedback-enabled functions keys sit beneath the display, which are suitably responsive. Typing on the on-screen QWERTY was fine, but I suspect most people are looking to the Glide for the real thing. The phone slides open to reveal a large, four-row physical keyboard. The keys are large and backlit, with comfortable, even spacing. They're a bit flat, but it shouldn't take long to adjust to typing on them.

The Glide is a good voice phone. Reception is average, and calls sound rich, clear, and natural in the phone's earpiece. The speakerphone also sounds good but volume doesn't go loud enough to use outdoors. Calls made with the phone are clear, though voices can sound thin and background noise cancellation is just average. I had no trouble connecting to a Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset ($129.99, 4.5 stars) and calls sounded great. Thankfully, voice dialing works better here, using Android's native voice-dialing app, than it does on the Galaxy S II, which uses a version of Vlingo that had difficulty recognizing names.

The Glide is a world phone that uses AT&T's HSPA+ 21 network and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. It also works as a Wi-Fi hotspot with the right service plan. Download speeds averaged 4Mbps down, with peak speeds of 8Mbps, while uploads were around 1Mbps up. Those numbers are good, but they're no match for AT&T's blazing 4G LTE speeds on devices like the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket ($249.99, 4.5 stars). This isn't too big a deal, though, because AT&T only has LTE in 14 cities right now. Battery life was excellent, at 10 hours 3 minutes of continuous talk time.

Processor and Apps
The Captivate Glide is powered by Nvidia's 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. It scored well in our benchmark tests, easily overpowering single-core devices, though not quite at the top of the dual-core heap.

The phone runs Android 2.3.5 "Gingerbread" with Samsung's TouchWiz extensions. There are some useful add-on apps, including Media Hub, a downloadable music and video store with reasonable prices, and Social Hub, a combination Facebook/Twitter client. There's also some bloatware from AT&T, including FamilyMap and the U-Verse Live TV app, which are both deletable. Other apps, like AT&T Navigator and an AT&T 'Featured Apps' store, are not. The Glide should be compatible with most everything in the Android Market, which currently has over 1250,000 apps.

What do you think Nokia lumia 920 or nexus 4?

rayan

I want my mobile phone to be strong in hardware and software as I'll use it for three years or more ,I want also an HD display and a high camera ,lots of apps , an offline GPS and I want a very fast phone but I don't know , android and ios are the leading software now but I don't know how windows 8 will be ! I don't care about price or outer design I want the better of the two of them.

Answer
If you want a phone for a year go for Nexus 4, want to use it any longer than that then opt for Lumia 920. Nokia and iPhone's build quality is way above to LG on any scale.
Though it is from Google, hardware is actually built by LG, which doesn't have the great track record. LG stands way below HTC and Samsung.

I have tried both Nexus 4 (My colleague got one) and Lumia 920. I migrated from iphone3gs, I bought Lumia 920 with the intention of returning (if I don't like it after a while) but in the end I kept it. I heavily use 18 apps in total, most of them are there in windows OS. To me durability and build quality of Lumia 920 stud out way above Nexus 4. I am a Consultant- I use it heavily in outdoors often with lot of noise behind- so far Lumia 920 hasn't failed me.

To be fair Nexus is cheaper, good looking being a google's flagship I am assured of quick updates. Nexus 4 got 1 extra gig of Ram and quad core processor but to me they didn't translate to any visible benefit when compared to Lumia 920. On number of aspects like screen, build quality, Camera, low light photography, blurr free HD video, ability to use finger nails, clear microphone voice recording, fully functional offline GPS, Lumia scored way higher than nexus 4. When compared both of them in my hand side by side Lumia 920 has the X factor in looks, quality. It's money well spent, I am sure it will last longer than 3 years as a great replacement to my old iPhone.

The video captured by both phones can give you better picture.

If you don't have a mail account configured on your iPhone: Go to Mail App and add an existing mail address (e.g. the yahoo id or the hotmail one (don't know if this is possible)).

Go to the Photos, touch the one you want to send so that you see it in full size. Now just tap the icon in the bottom-left edge of the screen. Tap "Send".
A mail view will pop up. Enter your mail id and send it.

I had a jailbroken iPod touch 4g running on 5.1.1, I backed up my ipod on itunes before updating, which was supposed to save my photos, messages, AND apps! but after I finished updating and restored from the backup, all my apps were gone! My photos, messages, everything was saved except my apps, they were all deleted some games had their data saved in the game center, but other games like resident evil 4 dont support game center, and now my saves and progress are lost. Anyone know what happened?

I have a similar issue, and I unfortunately can not help. I don't have a jailbroken iPod touch but an iPhone. I needed to restart my iPhone just now with my new mac and it said "You have not backed up your iPhone, all unsaved files will be lost blah blah blah". I recognised this issue before and hit backup with my old mac which effectively did backup and restore my iPhone to its normal state. This time it DIDNT! And I looked up (Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup) but there was no MobileSync folder in my application support folder. It is a complete disaster. Lost all of my Apps.
