What is the highest resolution that ipod "safe" apps can handle without crashing?

Spencer

You know those apps that you can store media (primarily photos) in and "lock" it with a passcode?
I have a picture that i want to lock up, but it's so big (quality-wise) that every time I try to deposit it in the "safe" the ipod crashes. At first I thought it was a temporary glitch so I tried over and over again thinking I would get a different outcome. And mind you, I did try multiple apps.
I have the picture on my computer and picture editing software, so I can reduce the quality. I want the picture to be in as high quality as possible. I don't want to make the quality of the picture lower than the highest possible.

So here's the question: What is the highest resolution that ipod "safe" apps can handle without crashing?

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!

Answer
I would say that there is no available highest resolution because this all depends on the processing of your device [whether slow or fast]...

Good luck!

Answer
Hi! I am an experienced iPhoneographer (featured in Mashable, CNN, Sky News, and the NY Times), and here are some of my favourite iPhoneography applications to use:

1. Instagram: this is an amazing FREE iPhone photo-filtering and photo-sharing app, where you can take a picture within the app, add one of a number of great-looking "vintage-y" filters (including an inbuilt "tilt-shift" blur effect you can add before any of the other colour filters), and then share the photo with your "followers" within the application. It is like a photo-sharing twitter, where you can follow other interesting users and have them follow you back. The quality of the iPhone photos shared within Instagram is surprisingly high and the community feel really makes it a great application where you can get useful feedback about your photos. It's often number one in the Free iPhone Photography apps on the App store. You can "like" photos and people can "like" your photos, it can get very addictive! My IG username is @streetstylish, and I recommend the following ten users as having consistently excellent iPhoneography photostreams on Instagram: @fashion @takinyerphoto @sionfullana @anton_in_nyc @eros_sana @thomas_k @neriad @bondavidsf @xxxyxyz @dutchie68

2. Hipstamatic: this app allows you to very easily take a (square format) iPhone photograph and instantly applies a filtered look based on the "Lens" and "Film" that you choose. It comes with a few "Lenses" and "Films" packaged with the initial download, and you can also buy more later if you want to experiment more. It is very slickly designed and easy to use. You can't change your Lens or Film choice at a later date if you decide you want to experiment, but the effects are very high quality and accurately replicate some vintage films and lenses for the iPhone. It currently costs £1.49 in the UK App store.

3. Camera+ (by tap tap tap, NOT the other one in the app store): £0.69 in the UK app store right now, and I highly recommend it both for taking photos instead of the native Apple camera app and for editing pictures. You can take a "normal" photo from your camera roll, import it to the Lightbox in Camera+, and add a variety of effects and frames to your photo and then easily save it back to your camera roll or share it on Facebook. You can use it to crop your photos and add different colour effects. Their "Clarity" filter is really great for a lot of photos, and adds a pseudo-HDR effect, making all of the areas of your photo look more evenly exposed.

Other great apps:

Free ones -- Adobe Photoshop (great for basic editing, like color saturation etc), Photosynth (interactive panorama capture and sharing developed by Microsoft), Color Splash Free (you can use this to make your photo black and white while keeping certain areas of the picture in colour), Old Photo (use this to give your photos a real 'retro' feel)

Paid ones -- Camera Genius (camera and editing app), Filterstorm (really advanced editing similar to photoshop), Diptic (for creating collages of different photos), PictureShow (great for editing photos into really vintage styles using different filters and frames, you will love this one!), Photo fx (great, intuitive photo editing application), Picfx (you can add lots of texture, noise, and filters to your photos with this one! Great app!)

Good luck and happy snapping!

iPhone Locked Or Unlocked?

Ali

So my cousin gave my a an iphone ( im dont know much about phones at all ) i know it can call ( 3gs) so it says it has no service. it dosnt ley me call and i have the phone app. So i want to be able to call so if i go to att can they help me or something?

Answer
hi dude , the best way to find out that It's unlocked or not is to upgrade the phone to the latest version of ios via iTunes and then test your microsim again if it shows "no service" the phone is locked but there are another ways too !

if you have the iPhone box check the back side , if you can see the iccid number your phone is locked and here is a photo for what I said : http://i-os.ir/puc/out.php/i3511_IMG0634.JPG

and the last way is to check your iPhone baseband , you can find it in this path : setting ---> general ---> about , after that just search the google for further information or send it to me and I'll tell you

Should I get a 32gb or 64gb iPhone 4S?

Michael

I currently have a 16gb iPhone 4 and I have gotten a message saying I have no more space to install items. I have had to delete apps in order to free up space, but this isn't that big of an issue thanks to iCloud allowing me to re-download all previous apps, even purchased. The new iPhone 4S is rumored to be available with optional 64gb storage capacity, along with 16, and 32gb. I want to have my device future proofed, as I believe apps, especially gaming, will no doubt increase in size due to their increasing complexity. I have few hundred songs, a few movies, many gaming apps, photos, etc. Also, the included 1080p recording capability will increase amount of consumed space. Is it a safer bet to buy 64gb or 32gb? I am also going to sell upon arrival of new model in 2012.

Answer
If you plan on shooting any decent amount of 1080p video get the 64 GB. I just made a post on my blog calculating the approximate usage for video and it's 178 MB per min (10.4 GB/ hour). So that can add up quick.

Link to my post with calculations:

Switching from iPhone to Galaxy S4?

SheSellsSe

Hello everyone. I've had my iPhone 4 for about 2 years now and it broke and it's totally messed up now since I dropped it. Since I'm eligable for an upgrade at ATT, I was wondering how difficult it would be to switch from Apple to Google. I've had my iTunes account for years and have bought many many apps and songs and I wanted to know if I can possibly transfer all my stuff to a Galaxy S4 if I were to purchase one. I also wanted to know if the S4 had an app like the music app on iPhone.

Answer
As the other answerer stated, you CAN'T transfer apps form IOS to Android, you just have to see if the app you once had replicated in Android, many are and more are free!

"f I were to purchase one."
doubt? from the IP4 the first iPhone to have a camera flash to the S4

Just a couple of reason why you should leave the orchard

1) The Samsung Galaxy S II (2) was released in MAY 2011 & has 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor with an 8Mp camera.

18 months later November 2012 Apple puts a 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor & 8Mp camera in a phone and call it the IP5
[Samsung S IV is Octa Core; Quad-core 1.6 GHz & Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor plus 13Mp camera. Samsung has 5 phones superior to the IP5, BUT the IP5 [1.2Ghz Dual Core processor with an 8Mp camera] etc despite being behind in ALL areas has higher the tariffs higher cost than the S IV.

2 You will have BLUETOOTH MEDIA TRANSFER (SHARING) photos / music cannot be shared if one phone is an iPhone

Music etc http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-transfer-music-itunes-android-230232/

I am sure music? is available on Android

Photo editing apps? ?

Is there any apps where I can put words and texts on photos? Thanks!

Answer
Citrify, iPiccy, PicMonkey, Ribbet, FotoFlexer or Lunapic are great all round web based and FREE editing tools. Adobe, makers of the expensive Photoshop, has a free website version in Photoshop Express.

If you are a former Picnik user than Picmonkey and Ribbet will be your best choices.

If you need/want more features downloading GIMP is a great options. Still free, but you have to download the software.

There are also free tools to add text blurbs, to make collages, to put your photo into other images. There are a number of tools that allow you to put the image of a face into other photos for some fun creations.

What is the best photo editing software for MAC?

;

Should I get a photoshop or a mac brand like Aperture?

Answer
As a photographer and also doing photo restoration, I use both Photoshop and Aperture. I take it iPhoto doesn't meet your needs for editing.

Using one or the other is based upon usage. Do you shoot RAW? Do you use a DSLR? How much correction do you do? What type of correction do you do?

I don't know what you know about each software however, personally, I like that Aperture doesn't employ 2 apps as Photoshop does. I also don't use the devices app in Photoshop. However with the detail and amount of restoration I do, I prefer Photoshop. I do not, however, use Photoshop's Bridge, that organizes. Restorations are not integrated into Aperture, and I manage my photographs in Aperture in lieu of using vault.

oh my god. these people don't know what the'yre talking about.
these photos are vintage, not "horrible."
and these answers are.. .__.
okay, so i do some of my vintage filters with iphone/ipod/ipad apps.
vsco cam is a really good one, you can get it for 99 cents in the app store.
picsart is free, and they have somer really nice filters.
some advice i can give you is to lower the contrast, to fade out the image to add to the effect.
you can also install the free app snapseed to help you vintage desires idk.
and on snapseed you can also add some grunge to look like that one photo, so yeah.
vsco, number 05 has the best vintage filters, its my favorite filter.

What are jobs that involve design and computers other then graphic designing? & which makes the most money?

random

I already know about graphic designing. What are some other design jobs for computers? I enjoy photography and editing. im also interested in creating websites. What are other things to do that i can go to college for and what makes a lot of money? Im 15 and just curious lol

Answer
First rule of design is to identify what you enjoy.

Also design has become very much about the theory of your target market, as to just creating something.

A casual overlook:

Interface Design < (Popular profession due to smart phone devices) Similar to graphic design, creating an interface for the user to be able to interact with. Ranging from casual apps, games, electronics, white goods etc.

Product Design/ Industrial Design < (My field) Create a Solution to a problem, though the use of critical design evaluation. You would typically need to be able to sketch hand and digital drawing, create models from hand, 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Rhino 3d, Autodesk Mudbox, Zbrush, 3Ds Max, Maya, Adobe Suite.

Nothing is more satisfying in creating a product on a napkin and seeing 2 weeks later being printed on a 3D printer to present to a client.

Samsung S3 vs. Galaxy Nexus?

Abraham Me

Which one is the better phone? Are they overall the same?

Answer
Hi I recommend the Galaxy Nexus, I bought it here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZEF01A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005ZEF01A&linkCode=as2&tag=acomprar-20

This is my experience with the Galaxy Nexus:
The Galaxy Nexus is an awesome device with a stunning display. Despite many other reviews online, ICS (the new version of Android launching with this device) is pretty easy to navigate/figure out. It does have a learning curve (even for die-hard long-time Android users), but much of the OS has been made more intuitive- one just has to step back and quit over-thinking what you are trying to do (or remembering previously complicated menus for those of us that have been around Android for a while), as (generally) everything you need is right there on the screen (unless you can't do it).

My only two complaints are:
1.) Many apps still have not been updated to play nicely with ICS by their developers (but this will change when Verizon launches the device and ICS becomes more prevalent), and
2.) The price. This phone is expensive, and while completely worth it for power-users such as myself, many people will struggle with this. The main reason for expense right now is the fact that it must be imported to the US from the UK (and soon Japan/Germany/elsewhere?), so there are fees and shipping associated with that. Also, once the device does officially launch here in the US, Verizon (and other carriers hopefully) will subsidize it and bring the price down a bit).

Some people complain about the camera on this phone, but as with any other camera phone, there is a lot of variation. Yes there are bad pics out there on the various forums, but there are a lot of really good pictures taken with it by people who know the ins and outs of photography. The shutter and operation of the camera is lagless (perfect and fast), and I have found it to perform better than any of my other phones in low-light situations. It performs (in my experience) on par with the iPhone 4 (I have not played with a 4s yet so I can't say anything about that device). At the end of the day, if you want professional pictures, buy a professional camera. No phone will give you the quality of a DSLR. This phone is much more than sufficient for capturing the quick memories relevant for sharing via email/text messages or social media.

Also, there is a bug where the firmware does not debounce the volume rocker properly (there is an unshielded radio amplifier located near the rocker's circuitry that when connected to or near 2G signal on the 900 mHz band the volume rocker will think it is being pressed due to the interference), a software OTA update began being pushed out to phones yesterday (11/30/2011) to fix this issue (verified by many user reports to have fixed it). This issue affected only users outside of the US (we do not use the 900 mHz frequency band here in the states). If nothing else, this illustrates the greatest reason to buy this phone. The issue was discovered as widespread Sat. 11/19, Google's firmware fix is dated (as being compiled on/completed on) 11/21 (the following Monday), and the 9 days in between fix completion and deployment is due to testing and logistics of pushing out an OTA update. 11 days from issue identification to resolution, which is outstanding. The main reason to buy this phone is Google's dedication to this product line (the "Nexus" Series) and its software. No waiting on carriers and OEMs to write/modify/reject/etc. each little update the phone gets.
