Im hoping that someone will tell me im wrong and there is a way to do it. It just seems strange that the phone is capable of breaking the video into frames but there is no option to save the frame as a photo. Im sure there are additional apps and jailbreaking etc.... not really interested, the phone should do it as standard.

Answer
Hello User,

that's a pretty great question.
Here is the solution:

although the iPhone 3gs natively takes spectacular video, you cannot simply take a frame grab but there is an easy solution that involves no jailbreaking or hacking.

Step 1:
select the video you want a frame from in your camera roll and turn your phone on its side to enter landscape mode (so it's wider than tall) the video automatically fills the entire iPhone screen.

Step 2:
use the scrub bat up top to skip to the frame you want to capture. Pause the video on this point

Step 3:
tap on the screen anywhere to make the video controls dissapear and all you can see just the video.

Step 4:
hold the sleep/wake button on top of the phone and then press the home button on the front of the iPhone and a screenshot is taken and saved to the camera roll.

You now had a still image of the frame on the movie you want!

I isn't the same an iPhone photo though the resolution is less and it's in PNG format but unless you get the photo on a computer and use a professional video editing program it's the closest you can get.

Also the iPhone video is only 640x480 resolution so it won't create anymore than a VGA resKution still from a video.

Have fun! See my References below for lots more good iPhone stuff!

How do I transfer my pics and music from my laptop to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Jeanie

I just upgraded my phone from a Iphone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and boy of boy are they different. I love the new phone but I hate the fact that they don't come with papers,a booklet,or even a disc to learn about them. Atleast with the iphone I had Apple support, which I had to pay for. But so far anything I need to know about the phone I have to look it up online, like how to check my voice mail, how to turn on the hot spot, how to how to lol but I have not been able to figure out how to transfer stuff from my computer to it. I have all my music and ringtones I had made with the iphone still on my computer,I have it in itunes and in my windows media. I still have to keep itunes cause my husband has a iphone and I have a ipod. I have alot of pictures and music I want to transfer from the laptop to the phone or copy and send but I can't figure out how. Also when I am on facebook with the phone, how do you save pics? Thank you to all answers in advance and if you think of anything else that you think I might need to know about the phone please include,it seems I don't know how to do anything with it yet, took me a bit to figure out how to text and add apps but that and talking and web searching is all I have done so far. The thing is smarter than me lol.

I know exactly how you feel. I received my ATT Galaxy Note 2 at the end of January. Even though I'm a computer Professional/Technician, this was my official first smart phone and I had no idea how to use it at all.. I had never used Android before, either.

Well, the day I received it in the mail, I went to Staples and bought a 32GB MicroSD card and then went next door to an ATT store and had them install for free. I told the guy I just got the phone today and he showed me the basics.. like how to hold it to create or remove additional Home Screen. Over time, I learned all the tricks and I think I've become an expert on this phone.

To answer your question... about copying over music and photos. BEFORE you do this, let me tell you that the Note 2 officially comes with 16GB of storage, but after all the preinstalled apps, you will have about 9GB of usable storage left. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you install a MicroSD card FIRST before you start loading up on media files because you will use up all the phone's storage space in no time. You should be able to find a 32GB card for under $30. Staples had some on sale recently...

METHOD #1
Connect the cable to your computer... should automatically detect your phone... once that is done, your phone will be shown in Computer as a storage device. To copy over your music, just select the files you want to put on your phone and copy them over to the folder that says Music... they will be automatically recognized. For Photos, pictures and videos taken with the phone's camera are stored in the folder DCIM/Camera. There is also another folder on the phone called PICTURES... You can copy stuff to that location too...

If you install a MicroSD card, this all becomes a lot easier for you. I created the following folders on my card: Videos, Wallpaper, Music, & Ringtones. So when I want to copy something onto my phone, I just connect the cable.. and copy/paste the files into their respected folder.

METHOD #2
This next method might be easier for you if you're not comfortable with folders. Just download and install Samsung Kies... It's like their version of iTunes for their devices. It will handle all the media syncing between your device and computer and make backups of your apps and data.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'll let you know about a few hidden secrets with the phone. Most people don't realize there is a button on the S Pen. You can use the button to edit your texts... and taking screen shots. Keeping your finger pressed on the screen opens up a context menu that allows you to create a Folder on your screen, change wallpaper, or go directly to Apps or Widgets.

The Phone comes with a great File Explorer app called My Files. When you first use it, it seems bland and generic. However, after playing around with it I discovered it's one of my most important apps. You can Add Shortcuts to the links that are displayed. For instance, on my phone, I links to all the important locations I have on my phone that I might have something stored. So I created links (shortcuts) to: Videos, Ring Tones, Screenshots, Wallpaper, and eBooks. So when I want to go to those locations, it's very quick and easy for me.

There is another file manager called ES File Explorer. This is a very useful app because it can be configured to connect to your wireless router and allow you to access shared folders (or any folder you choose) from your phone. so if I want, I can use it to open up my music or video folder on my desktop and stream the media file and play it from my phone. Very useful if you have a huge video collection.

There are tons of other stuff... but you get the idea. If you have any more questions... just send me a message and I'll be happy to offer you some advice or quick tips since I know so much about the Galaxy Note 2. View my Answer History and you'll find other stuff I've said about the Note 2.
