i recently did a pc recovery and i uploaded my documents into my external. but i was so careless, that i only transferred the shortcut to my external, so the rest of the info got wiped out including my photos. luckily, i kept my photos in my ipod, but how do i retrieve them without using any weird software crap?

Chances are that if you dont save anything new to the phone in the meantime that you can recover your deleted pictures.

You'll need to connect your phone to a PC using a USB cable (or take the memory card out and plug it into a card reader on the PC).

Then download some good recovery software like asoftech photo recovery.
