I've been thinking of getting a new phone. It seems that some people prefer Android phones than Iphones. I'm not sure what the differences are. Any suggestions?

Answer
Well, having worked with both pretty extensively, I prefer Android. Now, keep in mind, I am more into technical things. The iPhone has its pluses. It is easy to use, and the mail app seems better than "stock" Android.

A few dislikes though. First, you have to use iTunes for just about everything you put on or take off your phone and that gets VERY annoying. For example, I wanted to add some nice pictures. So I had to "sync" them through iTunes which optimizes the photos. Not only is this slow, but it basically takes a beautiful shot and scales it down to VGA quality (low quality) which is fine on the phones tiny screen, but if you go to send it to someone or whatever and they look at it on their system, its crap. Same with music, video, etc...all goes through iTunes crappy slow process.

With Android, all that is just drag and drop. You plug it into your computer and it shows up like a drive and you put stuff where you want, the way you want.

Second...and this is a big one...the apps. Everyone talks about the amazing app selection for iPhones. Well, here is the rub. There are very few free apps and most really are not that great. If they are great, expect to shell out some decent cash for them.
Android, while having fewer apps (keep in mind fewer still is hundreds of thousands) there are a LOT of free apps and many of them are very high quality. Not to mention Amazon has a free paid app every day and some of them are pretty awesome.

Third, lag...people say "Android phones lag compared to iPhones" this is such a load of crap. First off, iPhones have lag as well. I've experienced it so many times. Second, people who claim their Android phones lag have one of two issues. The first I outline in the next paragraph. The second is they have a boat-load of widgets running (something you can't do on an iPhone) which is basically a little program that puts (usually) dynamic information on your "desktop" for lack of a better word. Well, if you little phone gets turned on, has to establish an internet connection, download a bunch of contact and update a dozen widgets...yeah...there is going to be some hesitation. In my experience, if you don't run widgets then a decent Android phone has the same, if not less, lag than an iPhone 4.

Fourth, phone quality. This is an issue as well. People seem to have no trouble dropping a couple hundred dollars on an iPhone, but then if they get an Android phone they find the "free" or $50 phone and get that...then they get all bent out of shape saying that Android sucks, blah blah. Well, if you buy a $2000 computer and then buy a $200 computer, which do you think will perform better? In other words, if you are going to buy an Android phone, don't settle for some crappy low-end one. Drop that same $200 like you would on an iPhone and you will have a very nice experience with Android. But if you buy that $50 Android phone with a measly 600Mhz processor and 128mb RAM...your phone will hesitate, sputter, lag, and frustrate you beyond words.

EDIT: I just read what Borna said and I was laughing. Completely inaccurate in almost everything he said.

How do you put quotes on top of pictures?

And is there an app for that? If so, what is it called?

Answer
App or website? You find apps through the device ur using (blackberry, android, app store)

Websites..
www.picnik.com
It's closing in April but right now you can use all their tools for free.

www.picasa.google.com
Download and use this. You can add text to photos.

That is just 2 websites, they are plenty out there. Just search photo editing and go through the results.
