Should I replace my outdated macbook for an ipad?

I have a white Macbook (circa 2007). I mostly use it for internet browsing, listening to music, light photo and video editing, and some word processing. Now, there are many things I really like about this computer, however there are a few huge issues that are NOT working for me.

1. Small hard drive
It only has 80 gb, and does not have nearly enough room.

2. Old OS
It's Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and I can't get any good applications or updates with it. Not even Spotify or Chrome.

3. Battery is old
The charge doesn't last long

So, I've done some research, and I think I have three possible solutions. But, I'm not sure which one is the best to go with.

1. Upgrade the hard drive and OS, but have to use all the time, energy, and some money to figure out how to do that and reconfigure it all. And I really have been wanting an iPad, so that leads me to -

2. Sell the Macbook and get an iPad, and use my mom's computer as my main computer. It's an iMac with the latest OS, and a giant hard drive.

3. Sell Macbook and get a desktop of my own and iPad.

Would getting an iPad be worth it? Now, I'm on a super tight budget, so I can't go out and buy the latest. If anyone had some insight on this, that would be fantastic.

Thanks!

Answer
For an old macbook you would get almost nothing if you sold it: about $100, nowhere near enough for an ipad. You say you need to do light photo editing and listening to music, an ipad can only hold 64Gb for the most expensive model which wouldn't hold much music (in flac anyway) and their is no good photo editing apps for ipad (instagram and stuff like that is a filter mainly not an editor). Upgrading the OS would be moot as it's an old model so it still wouldn't run chrome or spotify.

What I suggest you do is either:

1. Sell the Macbook and use put that money towards buying a mid range laptop ( my recommendation is this http://www.megabuy.com.au/toshiba-c850-satellite-pro-156-notebook-p10365113.html?ref=NL_GEN20130526&utm_source=MegaBuy&utm_campaign=1fd4b3d729-MEGABUY_20130404_Special_Offer4_4_2013&utm_medium=email ).

2. Use your mums computer and buy a 1st gen ipad or nexus 7. The nexus 7 is more in your budget as its only $250 and has the same "editing" tools as an ipad.

Is there any good offline-apps for Nexus 7?

Tom

I've got Google's Nexus 7 several months ago, but never had any chance to make full-use of it, especially when it comes to offline?
So, is there any good apps for Nexus 7 that enables the device to work effectively even in offline, like document-editing app, photo-editing, or anything you can come up with. If you have any idea, please let me know.
Thank you

Answer
I recently bought nexus 7. For photo editing - snapseed. Document can be edited with Google drive. What else do you need? I installed these apps. Sketchbook, snapseed, ol file manager, tablified market hd, skype, quora, ted, falcon pro.
