How much does a mac cost?

Ok, so I want to buy a Mac computer... I love all the application things you can use and I think it's a great computer. It would help SO much if you could list the different kinds of Mac computers and the prices. emphasis on the cheapest but still has Also of the cool features like photo booth and garage band. That would be so much help! Thanks!
10 points for best answer! :)

Answer
Brand new, they cost a minimum of at least $1,000 for a simple computer that doesn't do much or have a lot of software. Right now, most of what you're paying for is a brand name. I don't know what the iCloud and the Lion OS will do when they come out, but so far, the only Apple devices worth their price are the iPads, iPhones and iPods.

What does it mean in memory interface when picking graphics card?

Ben

I've found a graphics card I would like and found memory interface in the description. WHAT DOES IT MEAN!!!

Answer
hi ben
as you may of seen me mention in many of my answers the " memory interface " in basic terms is "the memory bus that connects your GPU to your video card RAM. "
this is calculated/measured in "bits" and the higher the bit the wider the memory interface is ... and better .. since more memory can come and go between the gpu and vram (video card ram ) at any one time
the smallest memory interface currently avalible is 64bit ( there were some legacy cards that used 32bit but these have been discontinued ) and the 64bit cards tend to be entry level graphic cards which are generally used for basic pc tasks such as web browsing, photo editing ect
the next and most common memory interface size is 128bit ... this is found in many entry to mid range cards and is good enough for pretty much all pc tasks such as gaming ,video editing
other sizes include 192bit,256bit and even 512bit,however 512bit cards tend to be dual gpu cards like the HD7990 and GTX690 which have 2 x gpu,s each with 256bit memory interfaces
so what does the memory interface do ? ... well as i mentioned at the start of the answer its the interface that the gpu uses to communicate with your graphic cards memory (vram ) and the wider the memory interface is the more data can move between the gpu and vram ... this is especially useful when running games and apps at higher resolutions since theres more pixels to be populated ( lets remember 1920x1080 equates to 2,073,600 pixels .. thats alot of pixels to be rendered and the quicker the data can reach the gpu the quicker it can be displayed on your monitor .. basically a 256bit memory interface can get data to a gpu twice as quick as a 128bit memory interface
in summary In order to process 3D data as much as possible your video card has onboard RAM which typically operates much faster than your system RAM. This onboard video card RAM is connected to the GPU via the memory bus. This connection can be of varying widths depending on what GPU you have. Some GPUs support wider busses than others. Also, most cards support using memory over a smaller bus than the maximum supported by the card.( thats my official meaning )
i hope this helps ben .. as allways any questions let me know
good luck mate and happy xmas !

What happened to picking the size of a photo to mail on your iphone?

photo sharing applications on iphone on ... Dictionary Application, Word of the Day Tab | Flickr - Photo Sharing
photo sharing applications on iphone image

C.B

On my iphone there used to be an option to pick the size of a photo in the mail app. It isn't there anymore. I'm trying to mail myself a picture of one of my friends that i can sketch for his birthday. But whenever I actually mail it, its way too small. Help!

Answer
First-, second- and third-generation iPhones featured one camera on the back of the phone; the iPhone 4 features not one, but two 5-megapixel cameras on the front and back of the phone's body. The iPhone allows you to share photos with family and friends through email or multimedia messaging. If your iPhone is sending small pictures, you may need to adjust the settings in your external photo applications or email.

The iPhone allows you to send photos via email or multimedia message (MMS), although first-generation iPhones are not compatible with multimedia messaging. When you send photos through MMS, you cannot choose the size; your iPhone automatically resizes and optimizes your photo for the message.

For Emails: When you email photos with the iPhone, it gives you the option to choose which size you want to send. Tap your "Photos" app icon to access your photo library, then tap the small arrow in the bottom-left corner. Select the photos you want to share, then tap "Email." This is when your iPhone gives you a choice between small, medium, large and actual size. Choose "Actual Size" to send the photo in full resolution.

Note: If you use third-party photo applications to take pictures or edit photos on your iPhone, the application settings could be making your photos small. First, check within the application to see if the settings allow you to switch to full resolution. If you don't find it there, exit the application by pressing the "Home" key, then tap on your "Settings" icon. Scroll down to your third-party applications and look for the photo application in question. You should be able to change the output resolution if the application is listed.

Why won't my Bluetooth work on my iPhone and How can I create a folder in my photos on my iPhone?

Sara

When I turn on my bluetooth, it keeps searching even if my other phone's bluetooth is on. So it doesn't work. And I want to know if I can create a folder in the Photos application on the iPhone.

Answer
I don't understand the question ... you can't get the bluetooth on your iPhone to work, or you can't get your bluetooth device to work with your iPhone, or you're trying to connect your iPhone to another phone via bluetooth? In the case of situation #1) Go to system preferences and turn bluetooth on ... if you have any other questions consult the users manual. In situation #2 make sure you bluetooth device is set to "discoverable" and have your iPhone scan for devices so you can pair the two. In situation #3 ... you can't pair an iPhone to another phone via bluetooth for data sharing.

As for the folder in your photo application on the iPhone ... you cannot do that on the iPhone itself. You will need to create the folder on your computer and sync it to your iPhone. If you are using a Macintosh then you need to create the folder in iPhoto (or Aperture) and then have that folder synced to your iPhone in your iTunes preferences. If you are using an Windows or PC computer then you will need to create the folder in your photo application you use to sync to your iPhone.

Okay here is my list of technology:
{ iPad 3 }, I have good grades A- to A+ and I use it for Facebook ( With Parental Permission ) and Google Chrome I have only 12 apps which are mostly stuff like Google Chrome, Facebook, iFunny, Skype, and Draw Free etc...
{ Computer } Which I have had for a very long time and I rarely use it now because of my iPad, I use it when sometimes I need information on an essay but my iPad doesn't have flash so I need my computer to look up information.
{ Small TV in Room } My Tv is not big and my dad gave it to me after he stopped using it and stored in the basement, I have cable so there is not really many shows, just Cartoon Network, Disney, TRU TV, Food Network, Travel ...etc, which I am more than fine with.
{ iPod 4g } To be honest I used to use it for the exact same reason as my iPad, but now I don't use it anymore and my dad sometimes uses it for Asian Cooking Shows. Other than that I keep it in my cabinet and hardly use it.
{ PSP 3000 } I got my PSP awhile ago and I use to play is every single day, but it is getting harder to play because the PSP is an old system and games don't come out for it anymore.
{ Ds Lite } I have had my DS for more then 3 years and I still play it, but not as much I refuse to sell it because my dad got it for me and I don't know why but I would break down if I lost it of if I sell it even though I don't play it that much.
{ Phone } I use my phone to call and text and thats pretty much it I don't play games on it because I don't like playing games on phones, and I don't use the Web Browser that much either, so I pretty much use my phone to call, text my friends, and listen to music.
--------------------------------------
That is pretty much it... and for my PS3 and Wii, I share it with my family like my brother and we both get games for them so I wouldn't really call it mine.
Oh, and for the iPad, Phone, Computer, PSP, iPod I helped paid for because I got good grades and I felt bad when my parents were buying it so I put as much money as I could in to help my parents a little bit, I don't beg for what I have, I earn them with good grades and good behavior, and doing my chores. Since I have all of that, does that mean I am spoiled? I am trying not to be and I am very grateful for what I have and I help my parents out as much as possible. So I have 7 technology total and I do not use 3 of them that much.

Answer
Of course you have a phone, computer, TV, and all that stuff. Most of the kids -- or most of the kids at my school and in my neighborhood -- are like that. As for me, I have a MacBook air, iPod 5th generation, PSP (idk what kind, I got it when I was like, seven or something and I never use it), an iPhone 5, a TV with cable in my room, an AWESOME Gameboy (i love it, seriously), an iPad 3rd generation, three HUGE cameras (REALLY into photography), and lotsa pets. I have 45+ pet rats (don't get grossed out) that I'm selling for $25 each to my friends who need pets, so by the end of this week around 15~18 will be gone. :'( They're well taken care of, though. I keep the girls in two FN (Ferret Nation) cages that I connect with tubes to, like, five 66 qt. bins, and the boys with separate bins and one FN cage. I love them all! I also have a two dogs, two cats, and two horses.
BTW, my family isn't filthy rich or anything. We're just...people. My great uncle is really rich though. I'm not bragging, I've never even met him. :/ I wish I knew him though. He has two Lexus cars and one BMW and this REALLY expensive other car (I don't like telling just anybody). Other than him, my family's normal. Most of my friends are like this too, except for the many pets I have. I'm 13 though. You might be younger or older.
I get all A's too, but I don't think it counts because Asians are smart, right???

So no, I don't think you're spoiled. Your parents just care about you and really love you. :)

Shy and inexperienced... Advice?

Clocky

Last year, I was in a class with this guy I like. He was rather geeky, but I am kinda geeky too. He sat behind me, and we usually talked, when we weren't listening to the teacher lecture. I suck at flirting, so I just tried to be myself and laugh at his jokes and stuff. I don't really know if he liked me. He would often show me cool graphic artists that he thought were like my drawing style, which I found interesting. We sometimes compared iPhone apps (did I say geeky enough for you?) and talked about photoshop. (He knew a lot more about it than I did, but I still liked talking to him.) We had this thing where sometimes, fairly often, one of us would see the other in the hallway and say the other's name really fast, and we would respond with their name. He even came up to me and my friends once to take pictures of us for his photography portfolio. I think we had a decent amount in common, even though I didn't get to know him super well. However, I was really shy to ask him out or anything (I've never had a boyfriend because of it) and nothing came of it that year. He has a really tight, big group of friends (which I sorta know because all of them were on my co-ed soccer team, including him) but I couldn't really hang out with them, because their group is sort of impenetrable.

Anyway, I still liked him when school started after school, even though I hadn't seen him at all. And now, I don't have any classes with him. I was planning to sign up for co-ed soccer again this fall, but I signed up too late and they didn't have space. I don't even hardly see him in the halls either, because our classes clearly are in different parts of the school. I try to smile at him whenever I see him and do the say-the-name thing, but often I chicken out and pretend to shuffle through my bag. I still don't know if he likes me (He has a lot of friends, and seems like a friendly guy to everyone) and it's likely he has probably forgotten me.

My question is, do you think I should just try to forget about him? I have been thinking about him a lot lately. I'm VERY picky about boys, and I could sort of imagine actually being in a relationship with him - but at the same time, I'm so inexperienced that I'd probably embarrass myself no matter what I did.
Do you think I should just drop it and move on? How could I potentially get to know him? I know people would say "Just go up to him and start talking!" but I don't have him in any of my classes, and he's always hanging out with his supertight friends. I just don't know... I'm such a loser when it comes to boys, and I feel so weird about it. I know you are probably reading this and just seeing a confused, lame girl who has no spine, but I just want to find someone who likes me and who I like and see what happens.

Answer

Should I update to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S?

Get 'em, C

I have heard bad things such as no more YouTube, no more Google Maps, and decreased battery life. What are some good things about the update? Will it make my phone faster? Should I update or just hold out?

Answer
Yes! Although there are some negative aspects in relation to the update, its also got some great features! There is a YouTube app available on the app store which in my thoughts is better than the original YouTube app. Its got a better user interface and just works better. Check it out:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youtube/id544007664?mt=8

Apple maps aren't bad. People are just overly reacting to some of its issues. Even though some locations are incorrectly labelled, and others not labelled at all, it isn't necessarily in your neighborhood. There are no issues with the maps in my neighborhood and I actually quite like it. Also people claim that the maps are TOO simple and not detailed enough compared to Google's maps. I personally don't mind it and think it looks better (besides Apple is known for its simplicity, right?).

In terms of decreased battery life, I haven't had any problems with my battery so far so don't know what they're going on about. Some other features in iOS 6 include:
> Passbook - This is a really cool app which stores all your passes and coupons. It works great and cant wait to see how developers integrate it in the future.
> Change in User interface for some apps - Some apps like mail, phone, the app store and the iTunes store have had some changes in design. The app store and iTunes store look a lot better now!
> Facebook integration - This is great if you're always on Facebook. It gives you the ability to post statuses and photos directly from your phone.
> More! - There are over 200 new features with iOS 6 like more info from Siri (i have an iPhone 4 so haven't tried that out). You've got to try it out for yourself!

Hope that helps! :D

EDIT: If you have a problem with the maps you can make a bookmark on your home screen to the Google Maps page, where you can continue to use Google maps.

Can I use a real band as an example in an iPhone app design?

Vlad

I'm working on an iPhone app.

I want to use band name and song titles in design mockups that I'll use on the app's website and in a presentation. Do I have to ask permission to do this? I know that band's name isn't a trademark now, but I want to be aware of the possible future consequences, when band's name may become a trademark and band may sign up to some big publisher like Sony or Warner.

Also I want to use album covers (like in iPhone's Music app). I know that such works are copyright objects. Whom should I ask for permission if the band is signed to label?

And what about photos? Should I get permission only from photographer or from band/label too?

Answer
What do you mean you "know that band's name isn't a trademark now"? Are you saying they have never marketed their entertainment services or any copies of their music with their name attached to it? That's all it takes for it to become a "trademark" in the USA, Canada, UK and several other common-law countries.

More to the point, you are certainly allowed to use someone else's trademarks to refer to any offer to sell things that you lawfully acquired. For instance, "buy my Ford Mustang and I will throw in a case of Pepsi." Not an infringement of any trademarks.

You can, however, be sued if you use (copy/distribute) someone else's photographic product without permission. Unless the band owns the copyright, you don't need their permission to use the photographer's works - just permission of the photographer.

Well I made this page for my YouTube idol MakeupByMandy24 yesterday, and I just now have 8 followers does anyone wanna do a share for share thing or something to get me more followers? Or any advice on how to get more followers? I follow back! My ig username is

Answer
Best ways to gain followers. 10 tips. By @jake23mat

1. Use hashtags. Google the top hashtags and copy/paste them on your pictures. You can only do 30 at a time though.

2. Like/Comment on other photos. Other people are more likely to check out your photos once you check theirs out. Also, when you like multiple pictures of a user, they see your username pop up repeatedly on their screen and are more likely to go to your profile.

3. Always reply to other people's comments. If someone says "Nice Photo!!" on one of your pictures, always respond by thanking them. Users are more likely to follow someone they feel they can interract with.

4. Make your account public. People will want to see your photos before they follow you.

5. Post good photos. Nobody wants to see boring photos. Post fun, beautiful, clean, and exciting photos!

6. Use editing apps. Snapseed, Vscocam, Picstitch, and afterlight are great apps to use. These apps are better than the instagram filters.

7. If you must, buy followers. But it shouldn't matter that much.

8. Post regularly, but not too frequently. Once or maybe twice a day is perfect.

9. Realize what time you post your pictures. People aren't going to see your photos at 3am. Now 10am right after people wake up? That's good. Or 6pm right after people get off work? That's great too!

10. Connect your account to facebook. That way your facebook friends will see your instagram account and follow you.

Hope it helps!

Im getting the IPad 2 and i wanted to know what you could do with it? Like some cool apps or interesting facts?

I'm just asking what are some fun apps or really fun things to do with it! Or slim treating Facts. Tell me anything you know about the iPad 2 thanks!

Answer
Most iPad apps are pretty cool. Some of my favorites are...

1. iPhoto, This app is pretty cool because you can take and edit photos very well.. in a fun way.
2. Gangster Rio, Where's my Water... All sorts of cool games.

The iPad 2 offers a brilliant high resolution display, not as high as the iPad 3, but still pretty good. It also has a dual core A5 chip which runs at about 1Ghz. Overall, the iPad 2 is AWESOME! To be honest, there are way too many things to explain.

More apps...

Newsstand
Newsstand keeps your favorite newspaper, magazine, and journal subscriptions in one convenient place. As new issues become available, they automatically go on display. Running low on reading material? Tap the Store button to start shopping for new titles in the App Store.

Messages with iMessage

iPad works with your apps to let you know about missed messages, calendar invitations, friend requests, and more. New notifications appear discreetly at the top of your screen â without interrupting what youâre doing. And you can see a summary of recent notifications when you swipe down from the top of any screen.

Safari
With iOS 5, itâs even easier to see the web. Tap Safari Reader to read articles without ads or clutter. Add article links to your Reading List. And keep multiple web pages open at once and quickly switch between them with tabbed browsing.

Twitter Integration
Twitter is integrated into iOS 5, so you can sign in once under Settings and begin tweeting directly from Safari, Photos, Camera, YouTube, and Maps. You can even start typing a friendâs Twitter handle and iOS will autocomplete the rest from your contacts.

AirPlay Mirroring

I was downloading a podcast from iTunes directly onto my iPhone (I was not connected to my computer). The phone seemed stuck for a little while and then, once unfrozen, my entire music library and videos were deleted. Is there a way to recover them without syncing back to my computer? It has since crashed and is out of commission.

FIRST BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR IPHONE:

Connect your iPhone to your computer.
When iTunes launches, click "sync" and wait for the process to finish.
You have just backed up your iPhone.

Restore the iPhone (or iPod Touch) This will allow the phone to be completely reset to its factory settings and start a new

a) In iTunes you will see a screen similar to the one below. You must click restore on the screen to continue:

b) You may be prompted to download the iPhone software. You must download it if you dont already have it on your computer. It can take some time depending on your internet connection, the files are over 200 megabytes in size. This takes some users a few minutes, and some a few hours depending on your internet connection speed.

c) When finished downloading, the rest of the process is automated. iTunes will now automatically restore the iPhone. The process will take 10-20 minutes.
You will see the apple logo with a progress bar on your iPhone during this time.

d) after the process is complete, as long as you have not removed your SIM card, and the iPhone has remained connected to iTunes, and your computer is connected to the internet, you will see a screen telling you that you iPhone is activated:

IMPORTANT:
If you are asked to restore your phone from a backup or set up as new, disregard these messages for now and continue on with the rest of this walkthrough.

Download Blackra1n from www.blackra1n.com
Be sure to click the windows logo if you are using windows, or the Mac logo if you use Mac.

When prompted be sure to save the file somewhere you can remember. You will need to run it in just a few minutes.

Be sure that you have your iPhone or iPod Touch connected to your computer. Close any iTunes related windows.

When the file has saved (should only take a few seconds as it is a small file) you must run it.

Double click the file and it will run:

Click the "make it rain button"
Next you may see the "found new hardware" balloon in windows. That is ok.
The iPhone is entering recovery mode and this is normal.
Your iPhone display will turn black, and then off for a moment.

Next you will see a picture of Geohot on your iPhone or iPod Touch

Blackra1n will now run and your iPhone will reboot:

The next screen you see after your iPhone reboots looks like this:

Final Step
After the iPhone or iPod Touch reboots, you will see a new icon on the screen called blackra1n
*VERY IMPORTANT:
Make sure you are connected to the internet via either WIFI or 3g. You can do this on EDGE but it will take a very long time. It is preferential to do this on WIFI

Click the blackra1n icon and you are brought to the following screen:

This screen is where you will select what download manager you want to install. Click Cydia and Rock if you want the most variety. I do not recommend Icy as some users have problems using Icy and some jailbreak applications an tweaks
Click INSTALL on the upper right hand of the blackra1n app.
Blackra1n will begin to download your chosen apps:

After it has finished downloading, the iPhone will do a soft reboot (this is called a re-spring) and you will see the selected manager on your home screen:

Next you can tap the blackra1n icon again, and then uninstall the blackra1n app to remove the logo:

RESTORE YOUR BACK UP IN ITUNES

Disconnect your iPhone and close iTunes.
Reconnect your iPhone via the USB cable and open iTunes if it does not automatically open.

Restoring From Your Last Backup. Assuming that you are using the same computer you usually connect your iPhone to, and you backed up in the beginning of this walkthrough you can now restore to your latest iPhone backup. iTunes backs your phone up when you connect it to your computer. We are now going to restore

Best Photo Editing Apps for iPhone?

Elizabeth

I really like taking pictures on my phone, and i need some editing apps. i want apps that have like hipster edits or like good vibe edits and some with like the yin yang symbol. So please help thank you!

Answer
There are tons of great photo apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Photo Editor - Snapseed is a comprehensive photo app that you'll wind up using every day. Photoshop mobile is another editor to consider. And Befunky is great too with the addition of more fun editing features.

Swap Photo Parts - With Juxtaposer you can take one part from one photograph and add that part into a second photo.

Panoramic Photos - Pano features the ability to take 360-degree panoramas using up to sixteen photos with a semi-transparent guide helps you line up each shot perfectly. With Pano's alignment tools, blending, and colour-correction algorithms provide you can really get seamless images in just seconds - I have been amazed.

Text on Photos - Photophrase blends beautiful typography with pictures to create unique images you can share. You can use Photophrase for photo captioning, photo sharing, and just plain photo fun.

Funny Faces - Faceship offers tons of face-changing effects! Besides the TinyFace, effects include a bubbleface, square head, nerd glasses (with enlarged eyeballs!), catface, the best moustache ever, some crazy mirror effects, horrible zits, sad face and happy faces, fat neck, and a bunch more. Another option is PhotoGoo which lets you turn your photos to Goo! Create funny facial expressions from your friends faces.

Un-crop - If you've ever taken a hasty photo on your phone and didn't leave enough room on the outside, AntiCrop is the app can uncrop those photos by filling in the edges with just a few swipes.

Which is better: Apple's iPod, iPhone, or iPad? And, what's so special about Apple's new iPad?

Liz

And, is it true that Apple's coming out with an iTampon?

http://images.chron.com/blogs/momhouston/itampon.jpg

Answer
Clearly an iphone is better then an ipod because it has an ipod in it and has speakers to play the music. I bought an original ipod touch and the fact that it didnt have any external speakers was crap. However they fixed that.

The ipad despite what people say about it being shitty, is pretty awesome.
Think about it, its like an entire computer without a computer. SURE its not as fast as the laptop im using to answer this question on, but i would still be able to answer the question on it.
Even with your iphone, you have so many additions and apps that you can get, you can word process, and you can email and games, and web browsing, and photoediting thats all possible on the ipad.

Its got a crappy name, and its expensive, but if you can afford one, lets get serious its just a fkn screen you can touch and do a whole bunch of awesome stuff with.
Think about this situation, your taking in the bathroom, what would you rather do use a laptop or a touch screen?

Its not meant to be a notebook replacement. I think if your deciding between buying your first laptop or an ipad, well your probably not the target market for an ipad.

And sure its new, but just like the iphone, wait a little bit and see how much stuff comes out for this thing that makes you jealous if you dont have one. I don't have one, i'll diss the people who have one cause i secretly hate them, but it looks quite kick ass.

It doesnt have a camera, it doesnt make calls. Well that sucks, but its not a phone, and wait, when the ipad 2 comes out (super absorbency ipad) and it has a camera and the new 4.0 software which will allow you to multitask and stuff it will be even cooler.

so yeah, which is better? I like my iphone, its a camera, a music player, a telephone, a gps, i can play games, a video library etc. and i can carry that around in my pocket I think thats the amazing thing. It really does allow you to do a lot of stuff in one device. I would never have photos before cause i couldnt be bothered to carry a camera around.

My vote is the iphone. I would still need a bag or a cache if i was a hipster to carry an ipad around, thats a big factor in how often i would use it.

I will be doing some work on photoshop, but its mainly for business applications like word and excel. have narrowed it down to 2 laptops. The HP TouchSmart tm2t or the Apple MacBook (or Pro). Please advise...... thanks

Answer
The HP computer is out of the comparison now.. Its between iPad, MacBook or MB Pro.

I have a MBA. Its awesome and I have been a apple fan for two years.. I own a computer business and didnt repair them because I didnt like them and now I own and run my business with them. It really depends what you will be doing on the computer to say which device is best for you.

iPad;
If you will be surfing the web, checking email, playing with apps, using iwork for your business, using iwork.com to share with Microsoft Office computers. Photoshop.. If your not doing a lot of advanced editing brushes is great on the iPad and its cheaper then a mac version of photoshop. there many apps to replace photoshop on the iPad.

MacBook if your not going to be running a lot of apps at the same time. MacBook Pro if you are.

Also if you dont like the design of the MacBook then get the pro. I hate the design. Johnny has always said a computer can be sexy..!! which the MB isnt @ ALL!

So I recommend iPad WiFi 16GB if your not going to have a lot of documents, photos, to edit if you pick the iPad. 32GB if you are.

I also recommend http://clamcase.com, MobileMe, and AppleCare. Contact apple to learn more about those last two products.

Visit http://apple.com/ipad for info on pricing

Visit http://apple.com/macbook or http://apple.com/macbookpro for pricing!

Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions!

Macbook pro, for a guy who has had PC's for 20yrs?

Between vista and window 8 I've about had it! Any tips or advice before I make the switch? Is surfing the net the same?
EDIT: I have Win 7 on a laptop, and it is fine, but 7 won't have support in the near future. I'm basically sick of changing every few years. XP was fine.

Answer
DeMoNsLaYeR575 is amazingly... wrong. It takes a six-year old about an hour to learn how to use Mac OS. First the PC geeks criticize Mac OS for being too simple. Now a PC geek says it is too hard. It can't be both. What is this thousands it will cost? You get video editing, video playing, photo cataloging, audio-video cataloging/playing apps with it for free. Even MS Office is available for Mac for US$130, so what's this thousands?

Surfing the web is no different from Windows, except you close a window at the top left instead of right. That takes about five minutes to get used to. Apps do not quit when you close all their documents, because the document window doesn't hold the toolbar. The top of the screen has a universal toolbar that changes instantly for the selected app / document. I can't stand it when Windows quits my apps for me, just because I closed the last document. I want the app running to quickly open a new document later. When I'm ready to quit, I'll quit (command Q or File > Quit).

I started with Windows, and was told by my Windows-programmer roommate to try Mac since I am a photographer. I cannot use Windows now without feeling annoyed. Yes, 7 is the best Windows ever, but I still have no use for a system that you stop by clicking Start. Bear in mind that I do not play with toys or games, so everything I use does something useful, and for that, I am happy with Mac OS. Even NASA uses Macs, so it is no slouch for scientific work.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Mac OS is UNIX-based. That's the top of the line in security, flexibility, and power. Linux is a near-copy of UNIX and is similar in some ways to Mac OS, but has far fewer apps available. Mac OS has no registry, a terribly annoying database that gets fouled up often with Windows. No app / virus can attach to the files of Mac OS unless you type your administrator password. Some new Mac users get annoyed that they have to type their password to install stuff, but that's what makes it secure. A virus can't type your password.

Can't you simply walk into an Apple store and try one for 15 minutes? They won't kick you out.

I use photoshop quite frequently, and was wondering, are there any android tablet/app combos out there that are particularly good for image editing? (illustration, not photo editing, if that matters)

Answer
You can try the Note 10.1 that uses Wacom technology. It comes with Photoshop Touch preinstalled. You can try a demo unit in a store to see if that might be something you can work with. JB fixed most of the problems experienced with the tablet when it was first released.

Or the recently released Note 8.0 mid-tablet.

The S Pen is a digital pen using Wacom tech. This is what sets the Note series apart from all other devices in the market. You can also rest your palm on the screen while working as most apps supporting the S Pen have palm rejection. Sketchbook Pro, Infinite Painter (Galaxy Note), to name a few.

Edit: Jeniefer I have to disagree. For a hobbyist like myself, using a capacitive pen to draw on a capacitive touch only screen is PAINFUL. It is not accurate and I have to hold the pen uncomfortably to work with it on the screen. It is unnatural to work in such a manner. And I spend an hour or two drawing (not just a few minutes). It is absolute garbage and something I can't work with. The Note series is the only tablet in the market that has capacitive touch AND digitizer screen. It uses Wacom technology and provides a more natural environment for drawing with its digital pen. The only drawback is that you have to use Samsung branded S Pens with the Note series. Trying to use any other digital pen will have calibration issues and there is no calibration tool provided to fix it.

Also a bigger screen helps especially if drawing with the arm and shoulder (not the wrist). Small tablets don't work as well with broad strokes as you may end up going off the screen.

There should be demo units in the store to try. I suggest trying the Note line. It is the only Android tablet that provides what you are looking for. All other tablets won't come close. That is unless you are looking for a pricey Windows Surface Pro tablet with digitizer.

If i take a picture of myself is there any way that i could put myself on a different background?

Shelby

If not, is there any really cool photo apps that you would recommend? Thanks in advance!

Answer
To put a person into a different photo/onto a different background:

You need a decent image editing program for a job like this (such as Photoshop, Elements, PaintShopPro or Gimp).
Open the person photo.
Promote the original background (layer) to a proper layer.
Select him/her via whichever selection tools works best for THAT image.
The more accurate you make this selection, the better the end result will look.
Delete the background, save the photo as a .psd or tiff or png file.

Open the new background photo. Grab the person's thumbnail from the layer window and drag/drop it onto the background image.
Transform to resize, move into position. Add a drop shadow to make it look more realistic.
Flatten and save.

If you want this to look real, both photos must have been taken with the same focal length, same distance, same angle, same light. If certain things don't match, the combination will never look quite "right".

Chances are there were a number of things you didn't understand, but you'll just have to work your way through it via reading help files and tutorials and/or getting out some books. Photoshop (or even Elements) requires quite some skill and YOU have to make the effort to get those skills. Alternatively, find someone who knows what they're doing and pay them for their skill and time.

If I buy a mac air, can I copy all of my music and photos from my iPhone, rather than my old laptop?

Basically i'd like to buy myself a new mac air, with the intention of selling my current laptop before hand. I'm getting rid of everything on this current laptop, however will I need to wait to transfer the music? Or will it take all of the itunes and other information from my iPhone and store it automatically?

Answer
In my opinion, your best bet to get ALL your music is to keep your older laptop and transfer from it.
The reason being is any music NOT purchased (should there be alot) from iTunes will not be available for download from iTunes. See the link below and notice the word "purchases".
I've seen multiple 3rd party apps suggested to transfer from iPhones to Mac and you might try one, however in my opinion the less 3rd party apps on a Mac the more you can be assured of your privacy. If anything 3rd party apps should be purchased via the Apple App store so you might be assured that privacy standards are meeting Apple's standards.

Can someone who shares the same iTunes account as me see my pictures in Photo Vault?

paige

My brother and I share an iTunes account. Whenever he downloads an app it automatically downloads to my phone as well. & the same thing happens when I download an app it downloads on his phone too. I downloaded the app Photo Vault on my phone so it went to his too. I was wondering if he could see my pictures I download in there?

Answer
most likely, because since your using the same account whatever you can see when you get on he can see and i think you should just get separate accounts. i had the same problem when i let some friends use my account just to download some free apps and things went bad when they started to buy music and all there music and items were syncing onto my iPhone trust me it gets really annoying when your sharing. plus you don't have any privacy because your brother is able to see what music and apps and things you have so for privacy reasons best idea is to go with separate accounts if you can.

erikespino

i'm thinking of buying an Ipod Touch or an Nintendo DSi. i'm kind of looking for a music player with internet capabilities. but then there would be times i would like to game on it. please help! Thanks in advance!

Answer
If the internet browsing and multimedia features are your preferences, get the touch. DSi has minimal support for music and photos, and if the Opera web browser for Wii and DS are any indication, iPod touch's Safari trumps them both. It runs better, smoother, and has better plugin support. Simply one of the best mobile browsers out there.
The touch will also serve you much more use thN the DSi, I gaurantee it. Just take a look at the iTunes Store App section to see the incredibly wide selection of widgets and games, ranging from electronic dictionaries (I have an incredibly useful Japanese-English Dictionary on mine) and mobile website apps
(an increasing number of sites, including
Amazon, hotmail, google, USAToday, and
myspace are releasing apps or making mobile
versions of their sites that allow you to
browse their sites quickly and easily.

The game market for iphone/ipod touch is still
very young, with only a relative handful of
truely awesome games separated from the
junk, but its rapidly growing, and even some
big name companies such as EA are
beginning to take notice.

Overall, I see little reason to consider a DSi over a touch, as the patter trumps the other in nearly all comparable areas.

best apple product for apps?

Keith Rich

I want a device that can support Apple apps but do not care about other features. Specifically I want to be able to use the Midori and Kotoba Japanese learning apps so what would be the cheapest device to purchase be? I am aware of the ipad, iphone and ipod touch are all of these ok? Remember I do not want it for anything else really.

Thanks

Answer
The iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone are all suited to the apps that you are interested in.

The cheapest of them is the iPod Touch. It is available in several sizes (storage size), if you do not need a great amount of storage for other things like photos, vids, music etc, you could buy the iPod with the smallest amount of storage.

Where I come from, this model is about $200.

There should be demo units in the store to try. I suggest trying the Note line. It is the only Android tablet that provides what you are looking for. All other tablets won't come close. That is unless you are looking for a pricey Windows Surface Pro tablet with digitizer.

Do people who love to take photos choose iPhone?

I see many "phone photography" instagrammers use iPhone. Do most of the people who take photos prefer iPhone than any other android phones because the camera is better and there are editing apps and accessories out there?
Some of my friends said that iPhone takes pictures better than Android. I love photography and am going to buy a new phone. I'm considering iPhone 5S, do you think it will be suitable?

Answer
If you are buying a cell phone for its camera capabilities, you owe it to yourself to look into the Nokia 1020.

Generally, if still image capture is important, then getting a phone with a convenience feature is not exactly "love of photography"... most folks who "love photography" will use a device primarily designed to capture images...
